South Gate Police should have at least made the show of trying to arrest the guy as soon as they determined who he is. All the crap about administrative discipline and so on is just a way to keep the people responsible from answering for their actions under the color of law.
You know and I know that he knows that recording police in public in the course of duty is legal.
+1.
You “respond accordingly” and you go to jail!!!! Some jackass pisses you off and you do what is only human and you go to jail. Pigs do the same and they get lifetime pensions. You comfortable with that?
“They plan on trying to recover the video Paez was recording from the phones chip, Flynn said.”
Why the delay?
Yes, it is surprising when cops do this. But it’s no surprise as we know they think they are special people. The are the gatekeepers from those with power and those with out.
If you’re a cop and you get pissed and reckless when somebody records you, you oughta not be a cop and there is no excuse for what he did there no matter what feeble excuse you attempt to make.
Your empathy is misplaced.
The structure is corrupt because they’re trained that way both formally and informally.
“I am old enough to remember when the police didnt act like steroid abusers”
I am 67. You must be a lot older then me!
VERY we’ll said...
Now, I agree with most all that’s been said about cops getting into “Rambo” mode and trying to act like commandos...but I wonder why this person who was filming from the other side of the street was centered on the woman near the cops filming? Why wasn’t she filming the actions of the police like the other woman?
Possibly a setup? I don’t know...
One does not have to be a legal scholar to know the "sheepdogs" are more concerned about the other dogs than the sheep....
Told you Raylan was a jerk ...
"Trained" to be sociopaths....
Sorry. Haven’t watched it.
If you notice, when she goes to pick up her cell phone, she looks across the street right at the other woman filming...It seems a little strange to me...
Really?
Or do you just remember when only treated members of certain groups like that.
I am, sadly, beginning to suspect cops are starting to treat the general public the way they've always treated "the minority community."
You are willing to cut the cops some slack for being understanably pissed off but when a citizen gets pissed off witnessing the police acting like thugs you call that being an obnoxious ass. Ever try intellectual consistency?
A top of the line iPhone retails for about $750 plus tax. Willfully destroying such a device is called criminal damaging here in Ohio and it’s a second degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and/or up to a $750 fine plus any court costs.
They just don’t get it. EVERYONE has a camera! The watch commander should remind officers of this fact every day at the start of each shift. It’s over. The old way is gone forever.
Don’t worry about the good ones, those two guys can take care of themselves
Welcome to 21st Century America, where “Patriots” are treated as the enemy, and Islamists are our “friends”.
