Rand Turns Abortion Around on Blab
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | April 15, 2015 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Rand Paul has actually done something that I don't think -- it may have happened -- I don't think an elected Republican has done. I don't think an elected Republican's actually turned the tables on the issue of abortion against a Democrat.

Now, I know that all kinds of so-called conservative activists -- like Phyllis Schlafly is superb on this when she gets in debates with these leftists -- don't misunderstand. But I'm talking about elected officials who normally run from this issue. You remember what this is about. Rand Paul's up there after he's announced, and they say, "What do you think about abortion?" And he turns around and says, "You go ask go ask Debbie Schultz, you go ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz if she thinks it's okay to murder a seven-month-old fetus in the uterus. You ask her that." And they did. They went and asked her that, and she stepped in it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, so Rand Paul goes out there and announces, and then he starts his media tour, and we chronicled how this began. He's mean to women. It was the official changeover from the race wars to the gender wars. It was the official media revival of the War on Women, just like Stephanopoulos got the War on Women going by asking Mitt Romney about contraception when nobody was talking about it. Nobody had cared about it. It wasn't even an issue anywhere on the horizon, kept badgering Romney. Romney finally answered it, voila, it didn't matter what the answer was, we've got a War on Women, Republicans hate women, blah, blah, blah.

That was a brief interruption in the overall race wars, everybody's racist because they criticized Obama, and so forth. But now it's Hillary's turn. She's next up so the gender wars are back. Rand Paul refused to accept the premise of Savannah Guthrie and a couple of questions and they start, "You're mean to women. You don't like women. You really mistreat women reporters." And the gender wars are back. And they asked him in this whole process a question regarding restrictions on abortion procedures and whether or not the Republicans accept or favor exceptions to late-term abortion bans in extreme cases.

And Rand Paul, rather than fall for the trick of accepting the premise, turned the tables on 'em and told the reporters to go ask Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz if the Democrat Party favors no restrictions at all, not just late term, but at all. You go ask Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz if she would support the murder of a seven-pound baby in utero. And amazingly, the reporters went to Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz and carried the challenge. And she stepped in it.

She said (paraphrasing), "I don't care, no exemptions. Any time a woman wants an abortion, it's her right. Government has no right to come and be involved. Whenever a woman wants an abortion, that's fine." And then she realized that she had stepped in it and started trying to walk some of that back, and she went on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, tried to walk it back.

Let's go to the audio sound bites on this. First up, Debbie "Blabbermouth" Schultz last night on The Kelly File. Megyn Kelly said, "You and Rand Paul have had this dustup about abortion. He keeps saying, 'Ask Debbie 'Blabbermouth' Schultz when life begins. When does she believe life begins?' Can you answer that question, Ms. 'Schultz, when does life begin for you?"

SCHULTZ: The question that he was asked and that he's trying to deflect from by pushing it on me is, does he support exceptions to his opposition -- (crosstalk)

KELLY: No, I know. I gave you that point. I cede the point, but I'm wondering about you because I have you tonight.

SCHULTZ: So from my perspective, my party's protective we do not support rolling back the protection that the constitutional right to make your own reproductive choices established in Roe v. Wade has given to women.

RUSH: Okay. So Megyn Kelly says, "80% of the public is against an abortion in the third trimester, and almost 65% against an abortion in the second trimester. So people are divided on this. He's trying to get to the Democrats' position on at what point is it appropriate to say that it isn't just between a woman and her doctor, that there's a third life involved here, and it's the baby. At what point does that baby have life, does it ever have life, but it's born?" What do you think, Blabbermouth?

SCHULTZ: What is appropriate from our perspective, I'll speak for myself but I think I can speak for most in my party, a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body should be between her and her doctor. And there is a Supreme Court decision, though, that answers those questions for us, the court decision --

KELLY: But that's the Supreme Court decision. Casey says the state has a stay.

SCHULTZ: That's right and states have made --

KELLY: The state has a right to step in on behalf of the fetus and say at some point that fetus does obtain rights. You would admit that we can't women aborting third trimester babies just on a whim, right? You agree to some limits --

SCHULTZ: Certainly not on a whim, but when a doctor --

KELLY: See, that's what he's trying to get at.

RUSH: See, that's what he's trying to get at, you can't just on a whim. But she did try it, yeah, on a whim, whatever a woman wants. And see, that's not the majority position of the people in the country. That's all Rand Paul was trying to do was get her to admit that they are so far out of the mainstream on this. And she knew she was snookered from the moment that the press came asking the question and she gave her first answer. So she's been trying to walk it back and go everywhere she can. She just keeps stepping in it.

Now, I could be wrong, but I don't know of -- by the way, when I say I don't know of another Republican who's turned the table like that, it's not an endorsement of Rand Paul. I'm not endorsing anybody. I'm just observing here. Maybe somebody else has. If your favorite's candidate is Ted Cruz and he's embarrassed a Democrat, fine. If your favorite candidate is Scott Walker and he's embarrassed a Democrat, fine. I just have not seen it happen in this way. I know. The season is so young. I even get e-mail now, you know, say one thing positive about Rubio, "He's still a creep! He still blew it, and there you are defending him!" Ah, so. And as you say, Snerdley, the season is still young. The hate hasn't even really begun to percolate yet.

Hit HARD!! We need to win this election.
If four percent are horrified by what they see and hear that puts us over the edge.

So you are a troll?

You signed up a few weeks ago to push Paul and already you are getting on threads and posting behind people’s backs and carrying personal grudges from thread to thread?

You are already violating freerepublic policy, and you should knock it off.

Paul is not well liked here as it is.

I am not a Paul supporter, but you must give him kudos —a politician is finally taking the offense on this issue instead of backing away.

“a politician is finally taking the offense on this issue instead of backing away.”

Well I must admit I was wrong. Wrong about there being no testicles in the Senate. Guess it’s mostly the “Senate Leadership” that’s ball-less.

I think a large number of leftists would openly support post-birth infanticide if they thought they could get away with it. For now, they have decided to hold their collective tongue (at least publicly) on that issue.

The Republicans need to force the MSM to ask the Democrats the same questions they ask the Republicans.

A lot of “independents” will be shocked at the responses they hear from the Democrats.

Not only babies, but anyone who is not able to live a quality life. Even veterans in the VA, but I’ll get into that soon. Hey, make sure you have a mental health check up because 2/3 of Belgian docs want mentally ill people put down, too. Stand up now or gun-toting, Bible thumping, Constitutionalists will all be declared mentally unstable by the APA. Come to think of it, someone better see what studies are being funded by the mighty taxpayer at the universities because they will be the backbone of the legislature.

This is how my brain works. Was about to post but then thought about statistics (which I can’t do). If the LGBT group is now normal, doesn’t that skew all the “norms” in previous studies? Won’t pedophilia effect the results in child abuse studies?

Did Paul actually say, “murder a seven month old fetus”, or did he say “a seven pound baby?” Just asking. I think the way HE actually said it was more dramatic and forceful than the way he was quoted. I only ask this because I think we need to use every ounce of force we have against this murderous scourge of infanticide, and not lose any of it through inaccurate quoting.

So from my perspective, my party's protective we do not support rolling back the protection that the constitutional right to make your own reproductive choices established in Roe v. Wade has given to women.

One thing I would like to see conservative Republicans do is reject the premise that this is about "reproductive" rights. Every time some pro-abortion liberal goes on to talk about "reproductive choices," the conservative should say something like, "I am not talking about that. Every woman has the right to take whatever action necessary to prevent pregnancy. I am talking about the abortions that some women have after they failed to exercise the reproductive rights that everyone agrees they have."

This could probably be phrased better, but conservatives need to make the point that by the time pregnancy occurs, it's too late to be talking about a woman's "reproductive choices." At that point, she's already made them. Abortion is about the legality of killing a kid that the woman already chose to bring into existence.

What you need to avoid is carrying personal grudges, and dragging arguments and grudges from thread to thread, and talking about freepers without pinging them and personalizing things.

Number? That I don’t support Rand Paul, what some call a “a rino loving surrender Monkey”?

That isn’t so rare and unique around here is it?

To: Starstruck
Yup. Only he wants to adapt, evolve and advance the homo agenda and open borders more than the older democrats were able to do. Sorry, young Turk Rand. Young comrade Obama beat you to it. Forward!

For the life of me I don’t understand why republicans run from this issue or marriage. Americans want leadership on these issues. Fight back! To focus on economic issues only is a completely failed plan.
