Marco Rubio: People "born with" sexual preference
CBS News ^ | April 19, 2015 | By REBECCA KAPLAN

Posted on 04/19/2015 10:21:27 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Marco Rubio said he believes that sexual preference is decided at birth, but still believes that states should be able to decide if they want to define marriage as anything other than involving a man and a woman.

"It's not that I'm against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman," Rubio said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation." "States have always regulated marriage. And if a state wants to have a different definition, you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate. I don't think courts should be making that decision."

"I don't believe same-sex marriage is a Constitutional right," Rubio added. "I also don't believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people. In fact...I believe that sexual preference is something that people are born with."

Rubio sparked a debate on the issue last week after he said in an interview with Fusion's Jorge Ramos that he would attend the same-sex wedding of a gay family member or staffer even if he would "disagree with a choice they've made."

Just food for thought.

People born with birth defects (cleft palette, club foot, heart abnormalities, mental retardation, etc) run in the 3-5% range, in the population as a whole. This range is also the range of homosexual occurrence. If homosexuality is a generic aberration, a birth defect (which I believe it to be), then this tracks with other known defects.

This does not say, imply or state that there is no “choice” for others - who simply opt to exercise their free will in a perverse manner; but it does explain behaviors in preadolescent children.

Exactly. No matter how many outer characteristics science learns to change, it can’t change the DNA.

And for those of us, on religious or other grounds, who don’t believe that humans are born with intrinsic goodness (which all of human history seems to support!), just being “born with” certain propensities doesn’t make them acceptable or a societal good.

Waiting for the day when NAMBLA feels we’ve gone far enough down the slippery slope (which they deride the right for even claiming that one exists), to make their argument openly and broadly that pedophilia should be acceptable to society just because people are “born with” pedophile propensities.

These are all ‘gotcha’ questions by the msm, designed to take people out of the game early on.

They should respond by saying my people are still doing research on it and they’ll get back to them when the conclusions have been reached.

Or simply respond in an agitated tone: ‘How should I know what the root cause is? I’m not a scientist’.

Rubio: "Marriage should be between one man and one woman."

Rubio: "Let the states regulate it."

Rubio: "It's not that I'm against gay marriage."

Confucius say man who ride fence must wear lead jock strap.

Let's concentrate - and let's get going and let's start pushing on Cruz/Walker, Walker/Cruz (Wisconsin and Texas, north and south, nice balance).

We don't have to make final pick or pecking order between them at this time. This pairing is about as good as it's gonna get....I doubt if there's a Reagan clone waiting to ride in at the last minute.

However, if there's any better pairings lurking somewhere, I'm always open to rational argument.

Being born with it is irrelevant....why do we have any sexual preference of any kind built in?....what propose does in serve, what its reason?

Any fool can answer that question.... the reason, the necessity of having sexual desire built in.. and how it it sometime become malformed

You may been born that way but you preference seem to not serve its intended function.. .if that seem harsh then how is it you flip on trangender.. they were born “that way” that gender but view it is a mistake of nature and contender it need to be corrected

In this battle of orientation and miss orientation ..
who right?...all Im doing is stepping back observing

what the function of gender and sexual preference.. what does it serve...that should offer a rational way to determine which orientation which gender is rational.

I could care less what your gender / preferences is and if you like or do not like it... but you now are making the argument that any is valid..it hair color ...your born with one and all are equal and you can change if you do not like....that is illogical on its face from simple observation

He’s his own worst enemy. I agree and so are we by letting the left constantly set the agenda and attacking our own. EVERY candidate and all conservatives should absolutely refuse to play by their rules by letting them steer the conversation to gay, gay, gay! It's time we start setting the topic of conversation and there are A LOT of pressing topics. Gay "rights" is not on my list of concerns, but the left is using it for a multitude of reasons and all of them are to hurt our side. Rubio is playing into their hands and so are we. The left are laughing their butts off on the sidelines.

It’s an irrelevant argument.

People are born with all kinds of predispositions. That does not command any particular ordering of society.

sexual preference is a choice.
Any “preference” is a choice!
You are either born an male or a female. What you do after that is a choice..........

I say FUBO

I agree. The left and their tricks of diversion are what we, candidates and conservative citizens, need to keep in mind.

I've done some extensive research on the subject and here's my take: There's a ton of info here although many if not most of the links are no longer valid:
