A Texas veterinarian was fired after a Facebook photo showing her with her "first bow kill" -- a local cat -- went viral.
Dr. Kristen Lindsey bragged online that she killed a "feral" cat in her neighborhood in Brenham. She posted a photo on Wednesday, which shows her holding up the dead cat by an arrow protruding from its head, according to KBTX.

When left outdoors a lot, even the sweetest pet cats have a feral nature while out and about. I had to "remove" one some years ago because it was coming into the yard (our 2.5 acres is on the small side in my area) and causing problems with the animals we kept at the time. The cat was smart (feral) enough that traps didn't work. It made me feel a bit bad, but sometimes reality suck.

If it truly was a feral cat then I completely understand and I have no problem with it. But, she needs to learn the three S’s.

There is less space for any animals-or humans-in cities, so I’m sure that feral anything running around would be a problem there. That realtor would have been shunned out here for the foreseeable future-the careless act of leaving a door open can let a varmint in as well as letting a pet out...
One of my adopted cats lived feral, in the woods before being rescued by a shelter volunteer-because I have a cat friendly dog-a Siberian Husky-I was asked to foster her for adoption, but she started playing with my other two cats and the dog, and sleeping on my bed at night, so I wasn’t about to let her go-she is now a velcro cat...
It sounds like your cat lived a dream life-her own penthouse and balcony overlooking the beach-every cat should be that lucky...
That padded bed hanging out in the alley 5 feet off the ground was her kind of throne to the world. I also cut in a mail slot right next to her viewing condo, so the mailman could say hi to her everyday.
That little beach shack didn’t have heat or cooling so I also bought her this, and I set it next to my reading place on the couch. She loved this, and you should look into it.

When she got old I bought her a love seat and put the end up next to my couch reading spot, put her electric bed on it, and then built steps for her when she seemed to be having some sort of arthritis pain.
She was a very engaging cat, and even when some of us were sitting and talking, she would sit among us as though she was part of the group, what fascinated me when she was a little kitten and I was a hard charging, quick moving male, was how even as tiny she was, she found ways to force me to stop and pay attention to her, it was interesting to watch her ability to communicate and participate, and demand what she required.
She lived on a self feeder of dry food, and a self watering set up, and I only changed her cat litter once a week, so her maintenance was close to zero, and when I traveled it was easy to have someone come to my little beach shack to hang out with her for a couple of hours every day.
Many non-cat people think that they are non-social, but they are very social, it is just mostly unspoken, they need to know they are part of things and they value the relationship, although an outsider may not notice the subtle interactions.
If you watch outdoor cats that know each other, you see that they don’t do much actual contact, but they most definitely say hi to each other and do a version of a nod to each other, it is as though they are a loosely formed cat group, with a wide spacing that to the casual observer might not be noticed, it is more noticeable when they lounge and sleep in proximity to each other.

My Maine Coon from the shelter-I always get my cats from the shelter-is my oldest-he is about 12, and the neighbor’s neglected cat I feed and shelter-the one I plan to abduct-is at least that old-they would probably appreciate one of those beds for next Winter.
I bought my 16 year old Husky a heated bed last year, but she has way too much fur to appreciate it-she still loves for me to take her for a walk when it is dark, windy and 23 outside and I’m freezing my ass off...
I’ve always found cats to be very social, probably since my family always had them as pets along with dogs. I have an orange mostly-Persian, Titus who is very vocal-he lies upside down on the chair beside me and makes pleased noises like the dog does when I scratch his belly.
He was found wandering around lost at a snowbird RV park and brought to the shelter. He was only about 2 months old and liked people-so a lost pet. I agreed to foster him, and when no owner showed up in a month, I paid the fee to adopt him, and had him neutered a bit later. He and the little brindle former feral cat are both self-propelled lap ornaments. People who say cats aren’t social probably haven’t been around them much.
Since I began dating as an adult, my main requirement-other than being a conservative-was that the guy had to be a cat person, or I was not even interested in a first date-MrT5 was a bit more liberal than I liked, but he had cats as well as a dog, so I let that slide, and slowly helped him see that he was really not a liberal-a stealth conversion-the cat thing was most important to me...
If you buy a heated bed for the cat, you will be surprised to see how she takes to it.
Anyone considering it should remember something about cats though, don’t show her the bed and let her know that you want her to get on it, if you do, she will avoid it.
The cat has to discover things on their own usually, or that stubborn streak might come out, the one where they do things to spite you, like totally ignoring the toy you brought home for them, the same toy that they will seek out and love if you pretend that it has nothing to do with them.
They can be perverse creatures-I used to offer my cats the toys I bought, but after seeing the behavior you refer to, now I just nonchalantly toss the new toys someplace where they can be easily seen-mine are especially fond of those little fur mice-there are at least 15 of the things on the floor and on furniture where they have been carried...
I’m definitely going to invest in one of those heated beds when I have a few bucks available...

Really? The DVM killed the cat. As someone noted down thread, accidents happen and sometimes cats get out.
It's going to be interesting to see how the DVM assessed the cat was feral. Doubt she'll work with companion animals again. And she may find that some customers wherever she works don't want her on the farm if she works in large animals/small ruminants.
As an aside, as someone jokingly mentioned down thread as well, not only women have cats. Males have cats, too. Mine go outside to exercise but have a fenced in area (6' chain link with a netting to prevent them from climbing over the fence, and then only when I am out with them).
You need to put a collar on your cat if you care for it. The vet thought she was killing a feral cat. I can understand that. I can’t understand any cat owner who won’t collar their cat.
These deviants in the forum who are so cavalier about the killing of feral cats make me nauseous...they need to be watched and monitored as much almost as that demonic “veterinarian” does. I lived with my then wife and child in a trailer next to some woods that had a whole colony of ferals living next to us...I would never dream of killing those poor cats...in fact, I fed and befriended the lot of them. They preyed upon the rodents, scorpions and snakes that lived in our midst...indeed, often bring us gifts of headless varmints at our front steps. I prefer the policy of rounding these wild cats up, neutering them and then returning them to their haunts where they can live out their lives being varmint hunters. It’s just me...I own two cats that I’m devoted too...love cats...including the ferals...and I would rather cut my right hand off than to kill them. If it were up to me, that monster bitch “veterinarian” would never see the light of day again...that’s how much she has appalled and disgusted me.
Don’t take up for in any for that evil bitch....so she didn’t see a collar, so...putting an arrow through the head of a terrified animal was “fair game” eh? I swear to God Almighty..we live in a sick, perverted country.
