NASHUA, N.H. Rand Paul lashed out Saturday at military hawks in the Republican Party in a clash over foreign policy dividing the packed GOP presidential field.
Paul, a first-term senator from Kentucky who favors a smaller U.S. footprint in the world, said that some of his Republican colleagues would do more harm in international affairs than would leading Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Exactly. We are presented with the false choice between intervention/nation building and isolationism. We need common sense skepticism combined with unswerving defense of our real national interests.
Bickering about our role as the Border Patrol has been told to stand down and let illegals in and the current administration does ansolutely mothing about 3 ISIS training either close to or inside our borders. I think the POTUS aiding and abetting our enemies by failing to do nothing about our security...
If its the High Seas in question, that would be the Law of the Sea Treaty aka UNCLOS.
Turkey, Syria, Israel, Iran, and the US haven't ratified the treaty. Everybody else gave up their sovereignty.
Both Bush and Obama tried, but neither could even get the treaty onto the floor of the senate for a vote.

I also prefer the Cruz approach which appears to me to be a foreign policy based on history, America’s interest, knowledge of our Constitution, and common sense.

You ought to read it. Vettels work was seen all over the hall during the constitutional debates.
Problem is, people like to pick and choose what parts of the constitution they like and ignore the rest.
It basically says, treat other nations the way you want to be treated, and if they defy natural law and pose a threat, the right is to correct them...even by force.
