Agency votes for spikes on the White House fence. A moat was already ruled out.

A moat around the White House was actually under consideration but was quickly ruled out.

You may recall in November 2014, a few months after a man jumped the White House fence, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) suggested to then-acting Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy that one solution to secure the grounds was a barricade of water.

But when a federal agency voted unanimously Wednesday morning on a temporary fence plan, a moat wasn’t an option. The agency approved adding steel spikes to the existing fence to fend off jumpers.

Personally, I gunk a triple layer fence with a minefield and interlocking fields of automated machine guns covering one gap and dogs in the other gap would send the correct message to the unwashed masses, but, hey, what do I know...

Maybe they couldn't find any alligators willing to defend the current occupant of the White Hut.

What a frikkin joke, the White Hut should NEVER HAVE MORE SECURITY, nor should ANY Government Employee have more Security than the Southern Border with ISIS.

I’d rather go with, you get x-rayed, searched, felt up, you go in, no questions asked.

You jump the fence, you get shot.

Era of Lincoln and before, with some provisions.

A moat with a drawbridge would suit HRH.

You’d think a simple electrification with a marked
Dead Line, would solve the problem.

Notice I didn’t specify which side the deadline
would be on...

How about motion-activated machine guns mounted on swiveling tripods? Or lasers?

A like the idea of a White House moat. And a big drawbridge. After all, kings should have moats and drawbridges.

Sheese, we are talking here about one building and one fence. That is it, just one and the FBI, SS, Air Force, Army, Marines and Capital police cannot cover it? Just one itty bitty fence?

I propose razor wire and a “dead zone.” Not to keep people OUT but to keep the current resident IN. And to familiarize him with the environment he SHOULD be in.

John Wilkes Booth would have been x-rayed and felt up. He never would have gotten to Lincoln. Then again if it was our TSA, all bets are off.

Maybe some tar barrels on the roof, as a last-line of defense!

Have some pike-men stationed at various locations through out the lawn (move their positions each hour and each day, so as not to set a pattern)!

Whatever it takes to keep the peasants at bay!

I can here it now, a Secret Service man reports, “Sire, the peasants are revolting.” Obama, in his best Mel Brooks voice, “You said it. They stink on ice!”

Yep, it would depend on the tastes and "preferences" of the TSA runt involved.

I like the idea of a moat and a fence with spikes. Our White House should be as well protected as our southern border, and both perimeters should have whatever it takes. I particularly like the idea of walling Obama in, away from all decent people.

A moat. Doesn’t DC freeze part of the year? Kind of renders a moat to be moot.
