Indisputable proof that Republicans are warriors for the aristocracy [by issue-trespassing]
Salon ^ | April 16, 2015 | Heather Digby Parton

Posted on 04/17/2015 12:08:47 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

.......As Brendan Nyhan at the New York Times explained in February, this sort of thing is called “issue-trespassing,” where one party attempts to co-opt an advantage of the other by pretending to care about something nobody thinks they care about. In this case, the GOP seemed to be admitting that their reputation as the party of the 1 percent wasn’t helpful to their cause, so they decided to try to shift the blame to President Obama. Nyhan points out that data suggests this rarely ever works, because people rely on party stereotypes no matter how hard those parties try to co-opt the rhetoric of the other side for their own use.

Certainly, it’s hard to see how anyone can possibly believe that the Republican Party, which fetishizes low taxes for the rich above all other priorities, truly cares about wealth inequality; but perhaps this is one of those times when the mere pretense of caring signals that they understand how badly their reputation of callous disregard for everyday Americans’ economic security has hurt them.

In any case, this shallow attempt at appearing to give a damn was short-lived. This week the GOP is voting, as they always do, to ensure that the heirs to the Wal-Mart fortune won’t be faced with the terrible responsibility of having to pay taxes on their inheritances. Dana Milbank of the Washington Post pointed out just how successful these protectors of the progeny of the one percenters have been in recent years:....

....I will never forget hearing a caller tell Rush Limbaugh one day that he was happy for his CEO to make a lot of money because that meant the company was doing well and would probably give him a raise someday. Rush, needless to say, sagely agreed with his assessment, although he sounded a bit distracted. (I believe it was around the time he had negotiated his several-hundred-million dollar contract, so he was likely engaged in counting his fortune.)

This is one of the main keys to the perpetuation of the aristocratic project: Convincing average people to support “their betters” with the promise that they will themselves benefit. In the old aristocracy, this used to be a simple pledge of fealty to ones noble house, but American conservatives have “democratized” it to make the serfs and peasants believe that they too will be nobles one day if only they agree to allow the rich to keep every last penny of their wealth. It’s a very sweet scam..... Full piece

issue-trespassing

I learn something new every day.

Must be that the electorate is waking up to the fact that the Democrats aren't there to champion the "little guy," but rather, to play them for fools.

This writer is a political bellweather for socialist advocacy (and she's deflecting for Hillary and all the "more equal" elites on the Left).

She must reframe the facts to use them against the Republicans.

I guess our "issue-trespassing" is working.

Now, will Heather Digby Parton do a piece explaining to her readers how the Clinton Global Initiate/Clinton Foundation shelters it's $Billions from taxes and ensures that it passes down to Clinton heirs.

The Clinton's call their nest egg a global charity when it's more akin to a collection agency for "down the road maybe I will do a favor for you" slush fund.

Whereas, businesses do provide a service, and employment with a paycheck.

WOW. What a collection of typical left wing talking points. I did not think it was possible to collect so much stupidity in such few words. Detroit, a city run and controlled by democrats for 50 years. Doing great ain’t it.

I think we’ve got ‘em on the run.

They just can’t say it.

How DARE we conservatives, or RINOs for that matter, steal an issue from the Democrats they carelessly defended with half-hearted demagoguery. :0)

I get the sense the rich are more and more subscribing to the Liberal pablum at large in the culture and less and less to conservative principles, and I get less and less sympathetic.

I refer to this sort of writing is called "condescending ass". I'm sick to death of Libs being the arbiters of the rules and on top of which if the Right manages to succeed in spite of the rules imposed by the Left, the Left screams bloody murder.

one party attempts to co-opt an advantage of the other by pretending to care about something nobody thinks they care about.

You mean like how the Democrat Party pretends to care about working men and women yet still endorses the illegal immigration of millions who will steal the livelihoods of those workers? Or how they claim to champion the middle class but impose a horde of regulations on businesses so that they can't be competitive so the jobs go overseas? Or how they pretend to care about "the children" and yet protect corrupt teachers and schools that fail in every category? Or how they give away millions of dollars to their union cronies and then decry attempts to rein in government spending? Or how they propose program after program that promotes the disintegration of black families and nurtures a sub-culture that can't feed, clothe, or house itself?

Yeah, like that?

Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals

1. “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.

2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.

3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.

4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.

7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.

8. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.

9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.

10. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.

11. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.

12. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions

Heather Digby Parton’s pic is that of a typical barking moonbat with the sidelong crazy eyes & goofy-tooth grin.

Probably drives a Prius papered over with radical bumper stickers.

Oh, I get it. It’s like how the Democrats claim to care about civil rights now, when everyone knows they were the party of slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow.
