27.49% of Everyone's Tax Bill Is Spent on Health Care
Weekly Standard ^ | April 16, 2015 | Jeryl Bier

Every year since 2011, the White House has used tax time to post a "Federal Taxpayer Receipt" showing taxpayers how their federal tax dollars are being spent. President Obama introduced the concept in his 2011 State of the Union address, and Wednesday the White House posted the fifth installment so taxpayers can see how "tax dollars are being spent on priorities like education, veterans benefits, and health care."

While users can punch in their own tax liability and see dollar amounts assigned to each category, the figures are based on percentages from the prior fiscal year budget. Comparing those percentages from year to year, taxpayers can see that from 2012 to 2014, the percentage of their taxes going towards federal healthcare expenses has jumped 22 percent.

Although the White House characterizes the Federal Taxpayer Receipts as a promise kept by President Obama to let taxpayers easily know where their tax dollars are going, the administration also used the opportunity to take a dig at Republicans, providing a link to "See how two starkly different tax plans would impact you" where viewers can read about the president's "tax cuts for the middle class" and the Republicans' "giveaways for the wealthy few." In the end, the White House doesn't just want taxpayers to know where their money is going, but where everyone else's is going, too.

WH claims ... MAP: How Two Tax Plans Would Impact You

GOP = 5400 wealthiest would get $3 million or more tax cut.

I wonder how many people would be willing to spend 27.49% or their own income on health care.

What’s scary on that chart is the 9% of the budget being spent on interest. When interest rates are so far below historic norms.

That’s the disaster in the making.

That's part of Obama's insurance plan to make sure the US collapses in case he can't finish the job in the next 21 months.

by my calculation at least 53.42% of the budget is illegal (unconstitutional).

Not as many as would like to spend 27.49% of yours.

Well since we are already paying 13% of our income on health insurance I guess I can add that 27% we’re spending for other people on to it. Yay!!

Hot Damn Free Healthcare is Expensive!

I know Pelosi though is dancing with joy because her Struggling Artist Putzes in Frisco don't have to worry about getting coverage though.

my 88yro FIL had multiple scans, xrays, lab tests, cardiac tests and visits to different doctors before they okayed him for a knee replacement..

.he had one 3 yrs ago but honestly, he did not follow up properly with the therapy at home...

.anyway, he's had his surgery, he went to the nursing home, went back to the hospital after an incident of aspiration, and now back in the nursing home where he will probably be for 3 more weeks.....

he is getting goofier and goofier every day...can't hear...memory going....still very weak, can't get around by himself, will probably ultimately end up in a permenant nursing home...

so you see, this is why nearly 28% of our taxes are going to health care....

multiple him by 1,000,000 and you can see why....

its not that I begrudge trying to help all of our citizens, its just that a hugely disportionate amount of money is being used for a certain group....

I think there should be limits....I think if people want cadilac "I'm going to live forever" health care, they should personally pay for it...

I'm in my 60's so its not like I'm a young whippersnapper....

It's becoming a right of passage, it seems, that everyone gets new knees and hips after age 60. If people want to go that route, they should be told insurance only replaces a hip or knee once. If people want multiple replacement of the same body part, they should pay. Also, insurance shouldn't pay unless people get in reasonable shape, lose weight etc, before the surgery so there's some chance of success.

I have friends who've benefited from a replacement, with a long and ardourous rehab. I've known others who never recovered, or worse.

I'll be 70 this year. I just don't get it about not wanting to be self-empowered. I only get medical care when absolutely necessary.

On another medical issue, most of my peers I've been close to are drug free and have no addictions. You would be amazed how many have been put on mind-altering crap to relax them or because sometimes they wake up in the middle of the night. I'm really uncomfortable about how some have been talked into getting involved with these medical "cures".

Bottom line is no society can survive with the amount of money being spent on medical care.
