Obama Yields, Allowing Congress Say on Iran Nuclear Deal
nytimes ^ | APRIL 14, 2015 | By JONATHAN WEISMAN and PETER BAKER

WASHINGTON — The White House relented on Tuesday and said President Obama would sign a compromise bill giving Congress a voice on the proposed nuclear accord with Iran as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in rare unanimous agreement, moved the legislation to the full Senate for a vote.

An unusual alliance of Republican opponents of the nuclear deal and some of Mr. Obama’s strongest Democratic supporters demanded a congressional role as international negotiators work to turn this month’s nuclear framework into a final deal by June 30. White House officials insisted they extracted crucial last-minute concessions. Republicans — and many Democrats — said the president simply got overrun.

WTF? Obozo is letting Congress have a say in something that is so specified in the Constitution? Methinks it's time for a new King.

Amazing.

The media will report it as a big “compromise” on his part when in fact all he did was agree to follow the Constitution (something he ALREADY agreed to do when he took the oath of office).

Wrong. Obama is now the sole power in making treaties. Now the senate needs 2/3 to stop a treaty.

Situation is *much* worse than merely agreeing to follow the Constitution. The legislation turns things upside down - instead of 2/3 of the Senate needed for approval (the normal course of things), now 2/3 of the Senate is needed to disapproval of this agreement. Assuming it is a “treaty”.

No. The senate gutted the constitution to legitimate Obama’s illegal, destructive treaty with Iran. We’re guaranteed to have a nuclear war. This is pretty much the worst thing the senate has ever done.

There will be no real deal because there is no genuine consensus between the parties. Iran will never agree to the intrusive, unannounced comprehensive inspections of all their facilities( including the “secret” military site)nor will they ever truly dismantle their capability to quickly assemble nuclear weapons. Despite Kerry’s fervent delusional wishes, Congress will never agree to such nonsense.

No ... the mulatto-marxist-muslim must be lauded for his kindness toward the unwashed members of Congress. You see, Congress only gets a say in approving a treaty ... our Constitution is silent on Congress’s responsibility to approve a “deal”, which this foolish agreement is most often described.

in rare unanimous agreement In other words, Republicans caved. Whenever Democrats are in agreement, Republicans lose.

You are both absolutely correct.

I was not paying close enough attention.

Thanks for the correction.

Right, and he’s already procured the necessary votes to make sure his deal is not overturned. That’s been arranged in advance. Iran gets the bomb.

It will not make any difference.

Obama has already laid his cards down on the table. During his administration, the Iranians will move forward as quickly as possible in developing nukes. They know that they have a short window during which Obama will do nothing to stop them.

By the time the next administration takes office, it will be too late.

That means that Israel is on her own. She will have to defend herself. However, she is not capable of waging a protracted war. She must win quickly or be destroyed.

Something will trigger the start of this war. It may be the Israelis launching a first strike. It may be Iran’s puppets in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza strip launching hundreds of rockets simultaneously so as to overwhelm Iron Dome.

It does not make any difference how it starts.

Israel has only one option to save itself. It MUST bring out the nukes. It MUST use the nukes. It MUST wipe out all of its enemies simultaneously. And it will.

How can the deal be changed unless the Iranians agree to the changes? This is such bullshot to protect the incompetent Barack Obama and his Democrat enablers from further embarrassment.

Congress will never agree to such nonsense

They've essentially agreed.

The terms put forth in this legislation require that Obama needs only 34 votes in the Senate to enact this 'treaty'. Sixty-seven votes would be required to reject the deal.

Corker has sold us out, which could have been predicted.

This is a bloody handshake with the mullahs. This is doomsday stuff.

The GOP House AND Senate leadership are obama’s jock strap sniffers
