And to think the US Government used to print and issue their own Bibles for soldiers in WWII. I have a couple. A copy of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence was always on hand.
Googleable (although I don't trust Google) in Wiki (although I don't trust Wiki), "Great Man" is the idea that history swings on the hinges of great men's deeds.
It's controvertible and not necessarily gospel, just a good source of disputation and an excuse to buy beer.
"Great Man" conflicts with mid-20th-century liberal historians' affection for "tides of history". I once heard a history instructor tell us, with a straight face, that military history "isn't" -- military action never settled anything that hadn't already been settled and foreordained by the "tides of history", or trendology, if you will.
