LEESBURG, Ga. —A man shot an armadillo, but the bullet ricocheted off the armadillo and struck his mother-in-law.
Investigators say that Larry McElroy fired a pistol at the armadillo Sunday night, WALB-TV reports.
The bullet killed the armadillo but ricocheted off of it, hit a fence, went through the back door of Carol Johnson's mobile home and hit the chair in which she was sitting, hitting her in the back, The Associated Press reports.
Johnson's wounds are not life-threatening, the AP reports.

What did I do?
Are armadillos pests? Can you eat them? Or was this guy just shooting critters because Hicksville?
Two for the price of one.
They are pests. They dig holes all over your yard. They also carry leprosy.
The one I pictured a couple of posts back was digging little holes in my yard and I was going to shoot him but then changed my mind and just took his photo.
After a couple of rains and after mowing the yard the holes disappear. As for leprosy, I don’t plan on touching them.

Armadillos are used in medical research because littermates are genetically identical.
A twofer!
They are pests that can make a wreck of your lawn and garden with their digging. They are edible although I have never known anyone who eats them. I have read they are a common source of meat in some areas in Mexico.
Do they have a grassy knoll in their yard?
Now why didn’t I think of that.
