Texas Bill Limiting the Photography of Cops Dropped After ‘Loud’ Public Outcry
PETAPIXEL ^ | 04/12/15 | Michael Zhang

Posted on 04/12/2015 7:44:12 PM PDT by SWAMPSNIPER

It was a month ago that a Texas lawmaker sparked a hoopla by proposing a bill that would limit the photography and filming of officers. If passed, anyone caught pointing a camera at an officer from within 25 feet could be charged with breaking the law.

Yeah, I called both my state representative and senator to strongly object to this bill. Especially considering the recent shooting of the dude running away from the cop, this bill seems like a really bad idea. IMO, police have no expectation of privacy while interacting with the public.

I noticed that too. I can’t believe the guy that sponsored that bill calls himself a republican.

He may be Republican but he's NOT Conservative. The two terms are not equivalent as evidenced by Free Republic being a Conservative forum not a Republican website.

Jason Villalba (Republican) in the Texas House from District 114 in Dallas County
... and he is an attorney for the firm Haynes and Boone in Dallas.

I might suggest that someone dig a little and find out who or what would pay this crook to offer up such a bill. Republican pols are as evil and crooked and stupid as Democrats.

It's not like they can find a real job, and a good many are only republican as long as it takes to be elected. Witness John McCain...

The public should be officially encouraged to record public servants performing their duties.

The good cops probably don’t mind and the few bad ones have to sweat when they consider they may be under observation at any time.

Mikey Bloomberg called himself republican. There are no standards anymore.

Exactly!

As time goes by it becomes obvious the word Republican is more synonymous with the establishment whether it be pubbie or dem.

How this happened; I don’t know but one of two things must happen now.

We either transform the Republican party into what it should be or abandon it.

This is where it gets dicey. If we abandon it like a lot of us would really like to do; then the dem’s will win forever on.

Transforming it into the party it should be seems like a near impossible task. Doable but at what cost and how long would it take?

I don’t have the answers but like a lot of my fellow Freeper’s; I do see the problem clearly.

One last thing in this line of thought. The liberal/progressive/marxist/socialist/commie’s took over the dem party quietly in the background before anyone know what happened and they now control it nearly 100%.

Maybe we should take a page out of their playbook and start doing the same thing. Just sayin’.

Amen! It’s usually the republicans who are in “the cops are right all the time” club.

I talked to a lady who sells homes for Perry Homes in Houston a few weeks after Perry died. I asked her who was running the company and without hesitation she said “Bob Perry.”

I said “I thought he died.” She looked like a deer caught in the head lights and did not respond. He may be dead but he’s “still there”.

I’ve known several people who used to work there and they all said working at Perry Homes was like working for a military organization. And the people there acted like brainwashed prisoners.

That agency he got Perry to create was TRNRC or something like that. We called it train wreck. One thing it did was made it illegal to build your own home. And that’s the truth.

Up until today, I have given LEOs the benefit of the doubt before all the facts are in.
If this law had passed, or any other similar law, my long-standing default position would instantly change.
I have just one reservation: since virtually all crime videos are made by FOTs (friends of the thugs) half of the events are never recorded and unavailable to recreate all the relevant factors necessary for a conclusive investigation. That places either the prosecution or the defense in an unenviable position. That requires sober, adult and competent thought to anticipate and resolve the obvious procedural and “social pressure” traps.

I’m surprised they only built 1608 houses last year. I thought it was much more than that.

He was a big vet supporter. I don’t know if he ever served himself.
