Her visit is set for June 30.

Rousseff canceled a state visit to the U.S. in the fall of 2013 to protest an American spy program that targeted Brazil's government and citizens.

Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela - Did Jimmy "I love dictators" Carter set the itinerary?

April 11, 2015: Castro gives Obama 'very emotional' apology - Obama not interested in battles before he was born"..President Obama declared diplomatic progress between the two nations a “turning point” for the region during his own remarks Saturday. He added that meeting Castro was a “historic occasion” for both countries.

“I’m not interested in having battles that frankly started before I was born,” Obama said. “The Cold War’s been over for a long time.”

Obama and Castro will meet Saturday evening in a monumental encounter. American and Cuban leaders have not had so direct a dialogue in more than 50 years.

The pair displayed their newfound respect for one another by shaking hands at the summit late Friday evening. They also spoke on the phone Wednesday before traveling to Panama."...

Obama meets Venezuela's Maduro at time of high tensions"...... The U.S. government last month ordered sanctions against the seven officials, including the head of state intelligence service and the director of the national police force, saying they had committed acts of violence or abused human rights.

The sanctions included blocking or freezing their property and interests in the United States and denying them entry into the country.

The U.S. government also said Venezuela was a national security threat, a claim that drew criticism from several Latin American governments.

U.S. officials later tried to downplay the security threat designation, but the issue nonetheless hung over the weekend summit that was dominated by Obama's historic meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro, Maduro's closest ally."

Jan 21, 2015: Russian Spy Ship's Arrival in Cuba Raises Eyebrows " The historic U.S.-Cuba talks are under way and they may have attracted a new addition to the Havana port.

The Russian spy ship Viktor Leonov CCB-175 parked there Tuesday, laden with high-tech software, radar and 30-millimeter cannon and anti-aircraft guns, replacing a cruise ship that had been there the day before.

Normally, the surveillance ship travels up and down the American Eastern Seaboard in international waters, with its radars pointed in the direction of the United States."...

Jan 9, 2015: Despite US-Cuba Detente, China Forges Ahead in Latin America "On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over the opening ceremony of a new dialogue platform linking China and Latin America. The forum brings together China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), a 33-member bloc made up of the South American, Central American, and Caribbean states. China and CELAC agreed to create a joint forum at last year’s CELAC meeting in Cuba, and the inaugural ministerial meeting opened in Beijing on January 8.

As this is the first-ever China-CELAC forum, the main item on the agenda is to put in place regulations — defining rules, setting up regular dialogues, and providing “a system guarantee” for implementing plans and political consensus. This first meeting is also expected to set the agenda for China-Latin America cooperation from 2015 to 2019."...

It’s Obama’s pattern of embracing our enemies [sends loud and clear message to the Cuban people - all people who live under oppressive, brutal dictatorships - that their freedom isn’t important] while he predictably works against and abandons our allies.

Because she represents the communist front in South America. From Cuba to Venezuela on to Brazil then Bolivia even Chile the gem of SA is lurching Left. Dilma is part of the Foro de Sao Paulo and they have rigged elections in favor of the communist candidate.

Yeah, maybe your correct no BFD. How could that possibly affect us?

Worth repeating.

Even my "Bill Clinton luvin'" Brasilian friends are having an issue with Dilma and what's she's done to their country.

I still believe they'd support the next lefty candidate who comes along once they get rid of Dilma. They seem to be back on the same track as Venezuela, although they've pulled themselves out of the fire before.

Sadly, this is the same story with currency through many nations including Colombia, which I had thought was running pretty smoothly.

But yes, I have been watching, too. What is interesting is the amount of protest I'm seeing. The thing is, they've been through this before with dictators, and within a generation. Then they went right back within 20 years and did the same thing all over again. They simply have further to fall this time and a different standard for currency.

I've been there during the days of the cruzeiro and cruzado. Folks I know lost everything with the crash and revaluation. They rebuilt their fortunes again.

Yet like I said, they'd vote for a socialist again.

I don’t believe the Brazilians have a choice. They have something like 34 different parties and each one has “socialist” or “communist” as part of their name.

Yes...true. Even the better of the two candidates was a socialist the last election. He represented the "centrists" for Brasil. Uhhhhhng!

Agree that they will fall to the next Slick Talkin Leftie with one exception - Dilma can be credited with starting the first real opposition "party" in Brazil. The seeds of a Federalist Party are being sewn now. My wonderful Brazilian GF is the last one you would imagine becoming a political activist as most of them just want to PARTY HERE NOW! But she and an expanding number of her close friends are ticked-off at having to do ADMINISTRATIVE FUSS (that's the last thing Brazilians want to spend time and effort on) and they do not want to have to do this again anytime soon. They want to get things right so that it is enduring.

They are frequently referring to the USA Founding Fathers and I am trying to help but I dont understand a word of Portuguese!

Wow - that is wonderful to hear. My Brasilian ex GFs were not political but I would have to imagine they would have been lefties in the states. I still have folks I call family down there and they never understood what problem we had with Bill Clinton and sex. They are fairly well mislead on our internal politics.

Portuguese is an amazing language. It is truly beautiful and stands out over others. Try listening to Pagode some time as well. Most folks don't care for it but I love it. Favorite music along with Vallenato now.

GO. TO. CARNAVAL!!!!! : ) Saude!

Yes I love to hear her speak in Portugeuse but she also has perfect Espanol so she can effortlessly transition mid sentence in three languages.

But...Portuguese sounds (to my ears) a lot like Russian! Lots of vzhe zhe vha das.

I really do have a totally different outlook on Brazilians than before I met her. They are the most wonderful people as a group but impossible to manage!
