[In response to a petition posted on a White House website, the Obama administration expressed its support for Sexual Orientation Change Efforts Therapy.]

ILLINOIS HB 217 Conversion Therapy Prohibition Bill is presently on its 3rd reading. Illinois Freepers, call your State Representative and tell them NO on this bill.

Latest revisions of IL HB 217:

Removes provisions concerning referral services related to conversion therapy. Provides that no person or entity may, in the conduct of any trade or commerce, use or employ any deception, fraud, false pretense, false promise, misrepresentation, or the concealment, suppression, or omission of any material fact in advertising or otherwise offering conversion therapy services in a manner that represents homosexuality as a mental disease, disorder, or illness, with intent that others rely upon the concealment, suppression, or omission of such material fact. Provides that violation of the provisions constitutes an unlawful practice under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Makes conforming changes in the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that (i) any sexual orientation change efforts attempted on a person under the age of 18 by a mental health provider may (was, shall) be considered unprofessional conduct and (ii) mental health providers found to have engaged in a sexual orientation change effort on a patient under the age of 18 may (was, shall) be subject to discipline by the licensing entity or disciplinary review board with competent jurisdiction.

Hmmm, sounds like their global warming ‘it’s settled science’ mantra- They are claiming rather authoritatively that being gay is ‘not a mental disorder’ DESPITE clear evidence that it IS a mental condition that CAN be cured, and not something you ‘are born with’ it’s a freakin CHOICE-

Republicans in the govenrment should DEMAND that this whitehouse prove that being gay is a genetic disorder- (Which of course they can’t... but the GOP are too dammed spineless to stand up for the truth any longer!)

FWIW, behavior is very different from attraction. In the words of this agenda, there is no distinction. The specific sex acts are a choice, even though the attraction isn’t for whatever reason. The behavior should logically be considered a problem on behalf of a lot of the health risks. So in other words, EVEN IF you were somehow born with an increased risk of developing same-gender attraction, that does not justify the acts. That’s the key, attraction is very different from the actual behavior. Call me wierd, but I as a man didn’t actually engage in sexual acts with a woman until my wife, during the honeymoon time, and it was almost 30 years of my life a virgin. And yes, I chose to be a virgin before marriage. That’s the big message about sexual behavior in general from the worldly promotion is that the sex acts are not a choice. With the exception of rape, they are a choice.
