Ready For The Marriage Apocalypse? By Carol Costello, April 7, 2015 Carol Costello-Profile-Image

Carol Costello: Talk to any millennial and you can envision an America virtually marriage-free In countries like Sweden or Denmark, people don't feel pressured to marry even if they have kids together

(CNN)The marriage apocalypse may be coming. Talk to any millennial and you can envision an America virtually marriage-free, with everyone happily single.

I did. And I do.

Recently, I talked about marriage with a group of journalism students from my alma mater, Kent State University. They came to me for career advice, which I gave them, but I also picked their brains about politics, religion and marriage. Their views on marriage intrigued me the most. 'Cause, guess what? They don't care what your generation thinks -- they'll get married if and when they want.

"I didn't go to college for four years to be a mom," 21-year old Candace Monacelli told me. "There's no housewife degree. I've worked my butt off for four years to get this degree. You want to use it. You want to be successful. You want to have that happy part of your life as well."

Jackie Demate, also 21, agreed. "I would have a very hard time justifying spending $20,000 on a wedding when I could go to Europe."

It’s ironic that in recent years, we have had this national debate/lecture about how we must allow homosexual marriage. And this is happening at the same time that marriage overall is declining in importance to critical masses of people.

And when they’re used up and all the good guys are taken - they’ll ‘settle’... In the mean time liberal elites have lots of silly girls to play with...

I just came back from a visit to our garden store. Saw a Dad and Mom with four daughters. And I am certain it was a family because all the girls looked a lot like Mom. They all happened to be Anglos.

Last time I saw a family this large......?

At the Hispanic Mass.

We’ve got a guy in my office that’s working on their quarterback and the team will be complete. But yeah, it the exception for sure.

Its going to be sadly funny watching the left head explode when Islamic Sharia law collides with gay marriage law

(I)t is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

— Abraham Lincoln, Proclamation Appointing a National Fast Day, 03/30/1863
Millennials are not raised with this outlook. They are not taught that their current outlook leads to a destructive end.

News flash, Jackie: my wife and I sort of eloped 33 years ago. I was stationed in Idaho and she lived in Florida. We were planning a big wedding and it was stressing her out. I suggested that I could just send her a plane ticket and we could get married in Idaho without the big expensive wedding.

We did. Still together after 33 years and a submarine career. I think that big expensive weddings start a marriage off with a fairy-tale expectation. We also had the advantage of all the parents being 3000 miles away, so no fight could end with “I’m going to go stay at my parent’s house.”

This is crazy. This girl can’t justify spending $20,000 on a wedding. Fair enough, but because she can’t justify that spending, she would never get married at all? What the heck type of reasoning is this?

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

They have been forcing homosexual sham marriage on us and now they don’t want marriage.

Stay single and have babies - No worries - The State will pay benefits - OPM - but it actually is our money.

$20,000 wedding - it's the bride who wants that - No worries - Dad will pay. (Try the $50 version.)

Divorce - No worries - What's yours is mine and what's mine is my own.

No kids = A Good Job *- No worries - No Entry Level Job for me, I'm edumacated and I want the boss's job, AND I WANT IT NOW. The kids will come later after I have the fertility treatment at your expense - (transferred cost on insurance).

It's the me generation, aided and abetted by the socialist FedGov.

Funny, but of all the references to Abraham Lincoln by Sharpton, 0bama, and various race-baitors, I don’t seem to recall them making mention of any of this.

Yea weird how some of Lincolns comments are left out.
Statements like whites are more educated and blacks are not the same equal.

Lol, if she had to work her “butt off” to get a journalism degree, being a mom is probably too much for her.

Poor thing! Now instead of the joys of hearth and home, she’ll be reduced to scouring the countryside for pizza-parlor clerks to harass about their Christianity.

I just got back from looking at bridesmaid dresses for my daughter’s wedding. From what I saw marriage is not dead...David’s Bridal Shop was packed.

Selfish twits.

I worked 5 years to get my engineering degree. My husband and i got married on the beach with our pastor and immediate families there only, no $20,000 wedding, not even close! Then I worked 4 more years and studied and got my professional license. A few years later I became a mom and set my degree and license and career aside because I knew that was what was best for my child. I can go back to work someday when my first responsibility no longer needs me.

Hence why same-sex “marriage” is supposedly increasingly popular. In reality, they don’t care about marriage at all - that had to come first - marriage has to be meaningless first in order for same-sex “marriage” to be accepted.

"Right now, I'm 21 years old. And I'm thousands of dollars in debt. That wasn't something my parents bore. And it's really hard to plan a wedding, or even think about something like that when you owe so much money, you don't have a job, and you don't have a home."

Yes. And when the Muslims take over, morons like these won't know what hit them!
