On April 9, Breitbart News had the opportunity to talk with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about guns and gun rights, and he told us that the Second Amendment “serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.”
Cruz answered a question about the importance of the Second Amendment:
"Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story described the Second Amendment as the palladium of our liberties. It is foundation to free men and free women being able to defend their homes, their families, their lives and liberty, and it also serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny."
As a follow-up to the first question, Breitbart News then asked why guns are important for free people?
Cruz responded:
"America was founded on a revolutionary concept. Namely, that our rights don’t come from government, they come from God Almighty. The natural rights of man include life, liberty, and property. Each of those rights is dependent upon being able to preserve the safety and security of your own family. In fact, the very first Congress not only acted to protect our Second Amendment rights but mandated the militia act; that adult free men must own a musket....

But the Rand Paul Neonuts say that Rand Paul is so strong on the 2nd admendment.
Would we get the same statement from Rand Paul on the 2nd admendment as we do here from Ted Cruz ?

I’m betting my cards on Cruz walking away with the presidency given the other options I’ve seen. If he and Walker teamed up as P/VP they would be unstoppable IMO...
The disappointing thing about this statement is how few prominent Americans agree and are willing to say so. We need Ted Cruz in the White House and speaking out on the news for eight years to help restore freedom and to educate the next generation.

Yes. Most definitely. The entire Bill of Rights is a fundamental ‘check’ on Federal Government. To stop it from becoming lawless and oppressive.
Even Hubert Humphrey publicly acknowledge the true purpose of the Second Amendment.

Yep. That is really what the 2A is all about protection from the government. Protection from fellow citizens is a side benefit. I tell this to libtards and they just laugh...”the gov’t will never do that” then I just laugh.

+1. And I’m putting my sweat and my treasure behind him to back up that bet. He’s the first POTUS candidate in over 30 years that inspires me to do so without reservation.

Lefties know this is true. That’s why they are so adamant about stringent gun control. They can control a disarmed population much more easily than an armed one.
Sen. Cruz has been showing leadership which has been lacking in this country for a long time.
