Poll: One in Three Say Businesses Should Be Allowed to Refuse Gays on Religious Grounds

Roughly a third of Americans say that businesses should be allowed to refuse gay customers on religious grounds, and the figure rises to almost half for businesses that provide wedding services, according to an NBC News poll released on Thursday.

The poll found a sharp political divide on the issue. By a margin of 65 percent to 35 percent, Republicans said that businesses should be allowed to turn away gay customers. Democrats, by a margin of 82-18, said that they should not.

The youngest group of respondents, people aged 18 to 29, were most likely to say that businesses should be required to serve gay customers — a margin of roughly 3-to-1.

The poll, which surveyed 2,052 adults nationwide, was taken Monday through Wednesday, in the wake of a nationwide furor over laws in Indiana and Arkansas that supporters said were designed to protect religious freedom.

Yeah, there’s something with the implications of the wording that are giving this result.

If the wording was
“should the government force Christian businesses to participate in gay ‘wedding’ ceremonies” they’d get the inverse.

I like what Ben Carson has to say about the issue; keep it to yourself. And I say; give the rest of us a break and stay out of our faces with your vulgar sex life, WE DON’T CARE.

I think the "beat the cake" graphic is better. It only has three words to get the point across. It is easier to understand, and it demonstrate that violence and force is an inherent characteristic of the Homo-Fasicists.

In terms of graphic art that moves public opinion, simpler and clearer is better.

um... you fell for the lefts polling tactic.

There is a HUGE difference between refusing service to gays and refusing to participate in a gay wedding.

It's the difference between refusing service to swingers or nudists vs refusing to serve food during one of their “events”

It *IS* good. I didn't create it, I don't know who did, and I didn't realize how effective it was when I first saw it a couple of days ago.

Now I think it needs to be spread far and wide because it encapsulates the issue in a manner so easy to understand that even Obama voters might be able to comprehend it.

What's a Swipage?

RE :”There is a HUGE difference between refusing service to gays and refusing to participate in a gay wedding”

How about selling them a wedding cake?

Here's your cake”

If the wording was “should the government force Christian businesses to participate in gay ‘wedding’ ceremonies” they’d get the inverse.

They deliberately word it in the manner they do so as to promote the result they want. Even the usage of the word "Discrimination" is intended to imply the moral equivalent of prejudice against blacks. That Blacks hate being compared to homosexuals does not matter to these propaganda agents.

They are soldiers of the left, attempting to force societal change through deceitful manipulation of the facts and the public.

I think businesses should be able to refuse gay marriage...like making cakes, arranging flowers, music etc....

that is not however, refusing just plain old gay customers....like you wouldn't sell a birthday cake to a gay guy....

This one’s easy.

Sure we can bake you a wedding cake. However it will have figures of a female bride and male groom in traditional outfits on it. Is that OK with you ? Its none of my business what you do with the cake.”

You got it my FRiend.

Try to pass it on as much as you can because so many here at FR don’t get that. If if they don’t get that here, what does that say about the rest of our populace? It says to me we need God’s miracle for freedom to survive.

That’s a skewed survey. It’s common knowledge that, families of “progressive” plutocrats should keep their family problems private instead of using business activity and government to force healthier people to bow to those problems.

The day that gays became aggressive belligerent and toxic is the day they lost the right to tolerance. In the past, it used to be that I personally didn’t care what they did between themselves ... as long as I wasn’t involved. Now I am involved ... I find myself forced by them with their despicable behavior and aggression to take a stance. IMO the time to simply ignore (tolerate) them is over. Now they have shown their true agenda and their true colors. They have demonstrated that they are in fact an evil fascist enemy to freedom. Don’t forget that many of the original Nazi’s were also homosexual ... (I no longer say the pirated word “gay” for them). These modern day Nazi’s have pretty much the same agenda as yesterdays homosexual fascist. This time though, it’s not just the Jews that they persecute. This time it’s Jews AND Christians and whites or anyone who would dare speak or act in ANY form against their sick agenda ... Yes IMO it is past the time to play nice with these sick perverts. It is a movement that needs to be squashed harshly, quickly and decisively before the cancer that they spread becomes terminal to our republic. This time it really is for the children.
