GARY HART: Clinton billion dollar campaign should frighten Americans; alarmed at dynastic politics

The prospect of a billion-dollar Clinton campaign “ought to frighten every American,” the two-time Democratic presidential candidate said......The post-Citizens United campaign finance environment has sullied the presidential process, benefiting establishment politicians who cater to financial backers. He pointed to his own experience; he and his wife mortgaged their home for $50-$75,000 — which made a significant difference in his 1984 primary campaign where he finished Hart finished second to Mondale. “If you need a billion dollars, how many people can do that? Only the Clintons and the Bushes and one or two others,” he said.

Hart is alarmed by current ‘dynastic’ politics. Democrats would be better served by a competitive primary that forced Hillary to speak in more depth about the issues. Hart's phone interview also expressed admiration of Elizabeth Warren and gave advice to prospective challenger Martin O’Malley, a former Hart campaign staffer. “This country is 330 million people, and we should not be down to two families who are qualified to govern. … When you create dynastic networks, you shut a lot of people out,” he added.

The White House comes up for sale every four years. The jerks living here in this country don’t seem to have a problem with that unless a conservative ends up being the highest bidder. What a country! Now that the majority of people living here have lost their American values, we’ve become just another third world banana republic.

If Rosie O’Donnel spent a billion she could be Prez. My point? Fat annoying lesbos can buy the office. But i guess HRC already makes that point.

This is rich.

Blaming Citizens United for the gullibility of the LIVs (especially the well-heeled ones) to help put Fat Bottomed Girl in the White Hut.

I thought he was dead.

I did too, and now I'm trying to remember who died instead of him.

The problem is they aren't qualified.

"I suppose Newt Gingerich could be asked a similar question."

Newt knew Donna Rice too? Wow that must have been one great cruise boat. Too bad I missed it. Monkey Business indeed!!

Newt's story is a little different. He married the women he was cheating on with his wife... :-)

In all seriousness, I have no time for any of these philanderers. This is America and you can do what you want with your life, but if you are asking for my vote, then I want to know something about the character of the person I'm voting for. If they are cheating on their spouse, I think it is very revealing of their character. I say get a divorce and then have your fling. Don't be running around behind your spouse's back doing it.
