I have been taking 5,000 for at least 5 years. I have had NO colds in that time frame. My kids take 2,000 and have had no colds, but they drink a lot of milk also.
I get mine on line now and not when I run out but rather when my supplier is unloading an over supply. I have several years worth at about half the already cheap WM price that I keep in a tiny refrigerator I got for 10 bucks at a yard sale. I don’t know what the shelf life is but it must be lot longer in an icebox.
Please don’t walk around my neighborhood in your Speedo!!! arrrggg. There’s a guy who runs the trail that is 1/2 mile from my house. He runs in a skin tight flesh (for a white guy) body suit. Totally looks completely nude.

A Death Panel by any other name...

I would say proceed with caution, science appears to be settled until it’s not. My wife’s vitamnin d level was found to be low, 20’s (not sure what the unit of measure is) and the endocrologist put her on daily regiment to get the level to around 50. I think she’s taking around 4,000 units/daily. But this is controlled in that she has regular blood work performed to keep track of the progress. There is a condition called vitamnin d toxicity that can cause problems in the short term as well damaging long term problems.
I wouldn’t run out and start eating vit. d pills like candy without having regular blood work performed so you know what the level inside you actually is.
Since the “settled science” of the horrors of saturated fat have been refuted, I rendered about a pint of fat from the Easter Ham last night.
Was great oil in which to fry my eggs (more “settled science” refuted) this morning.
The unanticipated side benefit was more significant for her than the dearth of flu. She had been severely manic depressive and anorexic since puberty. After the year was up she realized that she had missed a year of violent mood swings and was eating normally. I had seen that in the tenor of her emails but had not thought anything of it. I researched it and found out some authorities think that Sunshine and vitamin D are the best and perhaps only effective treatment for most depression. Think: winter blues.
take more then - how much are you taking?
Noted.
I used to get frequent ocular migraines. If i pop a magnesium pill, goes away in about 10 minutes!
For one year I took 10000iu of vit d3 daily...didnt affect my dreaming...rarely have them...how much were you taking? My ND didnt likemy levels being around 100 so I dropped to @5000iu daily...but am thinking of increasing again... (and changing NDs)
Science, related to health, sure seems to have a lot of “Oops! Sorry” lately in numerous areas.
Ironically, grants to confirm previous scientific studies are from the same government agencies and private organizations that provide grants to review and revise those former scientific studies.
Institutions are franchises for scientific studies, and grants to those fanchises allow government to grow and manipulate the populace — even if the data is later proven to be skewed.
I am 60 and haven’t seen a dr in many years. I am admittedly overweight and probably have high blood pressure. I don’t know. I know if I go to a dr I will probably end up on drugs that have a ton of side effects. I’ve decided to go the route of taking supplements. I know I’ll get a lecture from some here, but that’s just the way it is.
Anyway, several years ago I started experiencing racing heart, especially after falling asleep and waking suddenly. This went on for months. Once it got so bad that I almost had my husband take me to the hospital. After some research, I started taking CoQ10. The racing heart episodes stopped within two days. That was several years ago and I have not had an episode at all. After that, I started taking Vitamin D3 - 2000 IU, a multivitamin, turmeric, cinnamon and garlic gelcaps. So far, I’m doing ok. I can’t say for sure that those are doing me any good, but it can’t hurt. I feel good. Get tired given my age and weight, but lately helping son and wife move, I help son move the heavy stuff since DIL is pregnant and hubby has a weak heart. (I can’t get him to take the CoQ10 even though his dr gave him the go ahead). Lately, my worst problem is some knee pain that comes and goes as the weather changes!
It’s not for everybody. Do the research yourself and also check out what medical science has to say about the various supplements. I do not take supplements that it suggests you should not take without a dr’s guidance, and if you are on any dr prescribed medications AT ALL, definitely talk to your dr before taking any kind of supplements.
Yes...you should...must... take/ingest vit k with d3...or you may end up with hardening of the arteries
Vitamin D needs to be taken with calcium, and too much calcium is not good either. I realize the body sloughs off the excess calcium, but it also may result in kidney stones, if your body is so inclined.
Everything needs to be in balance. Perhaps we need a bit more sunshine - yes, that too needs to be in a moderate amount.
Sometimes I think these folks are just making a living off of trying to prove new theories.
Here is what I take, and it made a huge difference in my life
1) Turmeric (!!!) you will know you are getting enough when you start craving pepper on your foods instead of salt
2) Fish Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil - as much as you want
3) Epsom Salt baths- magnesium tablets (too much and you get stomach cramps and diarrhea- so prefer the bath)
4) Cinnamon- good for your heart - and puts you in a good mood
5 regular vitamins- especially B and C and D (D makes you have good dreams)
Salad - Fresh Spinach, Artichoke hearts, goat cheese, FRESH MUSHROOMS (!!!), dried cranberries, seeds (flax, sunflower, pumpkin, ) Balsamic Vinegar and Olive oil, some cheese and chicken breast or hard-boiled egg for protein.
GARLIC - as much as you can
Fresh Mushrooms (natural anti antibiotic)
HONEY in things instead of sugar (natural antibiotic, clears your lungs)
Oatmeal for breakfast or Cheerios with milk
JELLO!!!!!!! (good fingernails and prevents joint cartilage loss and relieves joint pain)
I also have gone gluten free- because I was getting TERRIBLE itching all over- it was a nightmare- it took me 3 years to realize that when I stopped eating bread I stopped itching and my joint pain went away too (inflammation)
In short, read up on Ant-Inflammatory foods and DO IT and
Get some Hydrogen peroxide and wash your clothes AND use a washcloth to wipe down your whole body with it every other week or so- and then put a quart in the water and soak in it- USE WHOLE QUARTS of it - it is less than a buck a quart.
I put one in the bath, and use a washclother to wipe down my whole body with ANOTHER whole quart while stading in the tub and then soak. every other month or so.
Use it in the laundry, clean your kitchen. Ever wonder why your doctors office does NOT smell like bleach? They clean with it.
I am not a health nut- but I am more than happy to tell every one about my personal experiences that I know have helped *and I am a scientist- I judge cause and effect well.
try 50K for a week - make sure it is a good one- read up on natural Vitamin D foods- there are things to eat WITH vitamin D that help intake (I think olive oil - if I remember correctly)
