A song from 1972 that was a stylistic throwback to the 1920's.

Hurricane Smith: "Oh Babe What Would You Say?"

Good evening, Kathy!

*HUGS*

Things are going well here. The situation I mentioned to you the other night appears to have been resolved, favorably to us. I fail to see any way it could have gone otherwise, but somewhere in the recesses of the reptilian portions of my brain, I was looking forward to asking lot of hard, nasty and obnoxious questions to the adversary.

But, better than that, Mrs. MacNessa is calming down and tranquility reigns in Castle MacNessa!

"God's in His Heaven and all's right with the World."

"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense."

This instrumental is a throwback to World War I, although it was written in 1967 by Roger Greenaway and Roger Cooke, who used the names David & Jonathan when they recorded their own material. I should note that a "batman" is an orderly, not a superhero in a bat suit.

Here are Greenaway and Cooke singing their own song. It was remade five years later in 1972 in a raucous R&B version. I prefer this one.

I covered this one when I did my Leroy Anderson retrospective. From 1947. Boston Pops lovers will remember this one as traditional.
