Marco Rubio: I’m ‘Realistic on Immigration’
National Review ^ | 03/31/2015 | Andrew Johnson

Posted on 03/31/2015 7:07:32 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Senator Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) continued to hint at making a presidential announcement in the coming weeks when he stopped by The Five on Monday, and addressed the issue that some think may be his biggest hurdle in a Republican primary: Immigration. Co-host Greg Gutfeld asked Rubio, who was a member of the moderate Gang of Eight that devised comprehensive immigration reform legislation in the Senate, how he responds to criticism that he is “soft” on the issue.

“I think I’m realistic on immigration,” he said. He noted that the current immigration system is still in need of reforms, but was careful to emphasize that grand approaches, such as the Gang of Eight bill or the president’s recent executive action, are not the answer.

Only when the border is secure and people feel that future illegal immigration is “under control” will Americans be willing to look at the issue of people currently in the country illegally, Rubio said.

“If that happens, I think the people are willing to be very reasonable about what we do with those who are here now, that have been here for a long time, and have not otherwise violated our laws,” Rubio said. “Until you can show them — not tell them — until you can show them that you are going to bring future illegal immigration under control, I think it’s impossible to move forward on anything else on immigration.”

“That’s just a fact given what’s happened over the last couple of years,” he added.

realistic on immigration

Many politicians with much more political experience than Marco's have danced all around the subject of immigration/illegal immigration.

Jeb Bush and Scott Walker are currently doing the same kind of dance-arounds. Four years ago it was Romney and Perry doing the fast-foot shuffle. Eight years ago it was McCain.

Marco is playing word games and hoping to distract from the fact that he stepped into the Gang of 8 and still has that stench on his shoes.

All we need to do is give the perverted enforcement agencies back to their original missions to enforce the law. We don’t even need to discuss it Rubio.

"Only when the border is secure..."

A good start but what about interior enforcement? What about eVerify enforcement? What about visa overstay tracking? What about document fraud and identity theft prosecution?

Was this guy asked about his inexperience to be president? He has been in the senate only a couple of more years than Ted Cruz and only gran achievement was a bill he wrote with Charles Schumer

illegals flooding the country is part of the dem plan to overwhelm the system w/ new voters they see as largely theirs.

the phrase ‘unescorted illegal minors’ is specific language also found in a 2008 bill that guaranteed safe haven into our country.

that bill was pushed by none other then joe biden

Realistically you are suggesting that whites should shut up and bend over. No thanks!

In Barry Soetoro’s new, “fundamentally transformed” America, being “realistic” means waving a white flag.

No Marco, you are a traitor, because when people do not apply to be immigrants and invade our country it is the duty of our government to enforce the laws. All of you have failed to do so.
It has been an intentional failure to flood the country with fraudulently documented foreigners for the benefit of certain industries for cheap labor that is costing the rest of us our country.

DO NOT VOTE FOR CHEAP LABOR IMPORTERS!

I used to like him. I just thought he needed more ‘wax on, wax off’ time. Now I don’t care if he does nothing but ‘wax off.’

They are not immigrants...they are criminal trespassers and invaders, not potential citizens

FL picks bad politicians. Years ago conservatives thought they had a winner in Claude Kirk, and look how that turned out too.

“show them that you are going to bring”

Oh, sure, Marco, that’s convincing—of why to keep here those who should be sent home anyway.

The same old Dem/GOPe amnesty deceit game.
