Apple CEO Tim Cook on Indiana Bill: 'There's something very dangerous happening' in America
Business Inisder via Washington Post ^ | 03/29/2015 | Tim Cook

Posted on 03/30/2015 8:07:42 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

There's something very dangerous happening in states across the country.

A wave of legislation, introduced in more than two dozen states, would allow people to discriminate against their neighbors. Some, such as the bill enacted in Indiana last week that drew a national outcry and one passed in Arkansas, say individuals can cite their personal religious beliefs to refuse service to a customer or resist a state nondiscrimination law.

Others are more transparent in their effort to discriminate. Legislation being considered in Texas would strip the salaries and pensions of clerks who issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples — even if the Supreme Court strikes down Texas' marriage ban later this year. In total, there are nearly 100 bills designed to enshrine discrimination in state law.

These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear. They go against the very principles our nation was founded on, and they have the potential to undo decades of progress toward greater equality.

America's business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business. At Apple, we are in business to empower and enrich our customers' lives. We strive to do business in a way that is just and fair.

That's why, on behalf of Apple, I'm standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation — wherever it emerges. I'm writing in the hopes that many more will join this movement. From North Carolina to Nevada, these bills under consideration truly will hurt jobs, growth and the economic vibrancy of parts of the country where a 21st-century economy was once welcomed with open arms.

You’re seeing no trend here with me ... Chick-fil-A ... is a crap product. I tried it for the first time in my life, when I heard about their big hullaballo, and it was crap. I tried them two more times, later on - to give them a chance - and they were STILL CRAP!! I’m not going there any longer, not because of what they did politically or even religiously ... but because of their CRAP PRODUCT!

I’ve NEVER been in Hobby Lobby in my life! I’ve never had any need to and I don’t care to go in there. It has nothing to do with their products or their political stance. I’m glad the US Supreme Court decision turned out in their favor. But, I have NO INTENTION of going into Hobby Lobby, because I NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION of going into Hobby Lobby. And that’s not because I don’t like them, it’s because I have NO REASON to do so.

And as far as Starbucks ... I happen to be there RIGHT NOW! I’m here because I like their super-fast WiFi, the fastest around that I’ve seen, almost beating my own. No one else has it as fast as what I’ve seen here. You see, I go here FOR MY OWN REASONS.

NOW, if someone at the counter ever decided to tell me about some political position of theirs or the company, I would tell them, “I don’t care, I don’t want to talk about it, and I didn’t come here for your political opinion!”. Fortunately ... no one there ever did that for me! ... LOL ...

I go to places for MY OWN REASONS, and if I’m going to be politically involved, I’ll do so at the ballot box and I’ll join some PAC and be active in it.

If I’m going to support some organization ... then I’ll give them MONEY FOR NOTHING ... and use that list that I post in Post #57. If you want to support some organizations ... give them MONEY FOR NOTHING and not “in exchange” for products and services, because you’re giving them nothing if it’s in exchange for something that they do or make!

But all the technical mags just called it the best thing since Jesus walked in Galilee.

There will be a battle over it, yeah. But we have to stop being afraid of battles. That is also to lose.

Chick-fil-a is yummy and delicious, and got dragged kicking and screaming into controversy, vs Starbucks which made a business decision to get up in their customers faces about political issues.

Cook would never speak against any muslims doing the same. He has no moral standing what so ever.

Oh, so you were lying when you said you want the best.

Or are you so big a tool that you would buy a product that would cut your own throat?

If you had your way, the queers at Apple would win the debate and force Indiana to deny freedom of religion to millions. But what do you can since you’re a fruit loving fanboi?

Baloney ... it’s NOT a capital offense. I know that God does not back it or support it in the Bible, but that does NOT make it a capital offense in the USA. All religions are supported, here in the USA, per the US Constitution. If we’re talking about civil government ... that’s one thing ... and it’s NOT RELIGIOUS LAW.

Whatever religion you have is another thing, and you are NOT GOING TO HAVE RELIGIOUS LAW enshrined in the US Constitution. I’m totally against having Muslim Sharia law put into place in our various states by their legislatures. That’s why I’m ALL FOR putting a law into place FORBIDDING religious or foreign law in the various states, which would BLOCK Sharia Law and it would make it JUST AS ILLEGAL to put “religious law” in the Bible into effect, too. We are not going to stone adulterers or eat just certain foods or all the other religious laws we see in the Bible.

When Jesus, the Messiah of Israel comes back to earth, he will institute a THEOCRACY, because he is the only righteous one who is able to institute it. The founding fathers did not want a Theocracy and I never want to see a theocracy here in the USA, until the coming of the Messiah of Israel!

That’s baloney! I’ll buy an Apple Computer ANY DAY, and I STILL HAVE NOT CHANGED my sexual orientation over to gay! I’m still the same way I was born and I don’t intend on changing it!

You’re perpetrating nothing but a lie!

Anti religious bigot who uses slave labor and markets to countries that hang homosexuals and stones women. A moral exemplar.

I’ve tried it and I thought it was CRAP ... not good at all. I thought that perhaps it was just one bad day, so I went back again. Still crap! Okay, I said ... let’s try it one more time ... crap again!

Nope, that’s it for me. I’m not wasting my time there, any longer with their crap product!

AND that has nothing to do with their hullaboo that exploded in the papers. In fact, that is what got me to even try them in the first place. I thought I should give this company a chance with my money and see how it was. Before that time, I had NEVER been inside one of their places.

Well, I gave them a chance (several chances) and I won’t be back!
