Apple CEO Tim Cook on Indiana Bill: 'There's something very dangerous happening' in America
Business Inisder via Washington Post ^ | 03/29/2015 | Tim Cook

Posted on 03/30/2015 8:07:42 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

There's something very dangerous happening in states across the country.

A wave of legislation, introduced in more than two dozen states, would allow people to discriminate against their neighbors. Some, such as the bill enacted in Indiana last week that drew a national outcry and one passed in Arkansas, say individuals can cite their personal religious beliefs to refuse service to a customer or resist a state nondiscrimination law.

Others are more transparent in their effort to discriminate. Legislation being considered in Texas would strip the salaries and pensions of clerks who issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples — even if the Supreme Court strikes down Texas' marriage ban later this year. In total, there are nearly 100 bills designed to enshrine discrimination in state law.

These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear. They go against the very principles our nation was founded on, and they have the potential to undo decades of progress toward greater equality.

America's business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business. At Apple, we are in business to empower and enrich our customers' lives. We strive to do business in a way that is just and fair.

That's why, on behalf of Apple, I'm standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation — wherever it emerges. I'm writing in the hopes that many more will join this movement. From North Carolina to Nevada, these bills under consideration truly will hurt jobs, growth and the economic vibrancy of parts of the country where a 21st-century economy was once welcomed with open arms.

I really do think a strong push on privacy rights would go a long way toward fixing whats wrong.

Yes and no... penumbras of privacy rights brought us abortion madness.

In the long term the cure for losing God is to get God back. No human methodological short cuts there.

And it just impeached both Barack Obama and Joe Biden and gave the new President Boehner a new backbone.

Being silly of course, but making a great point. Selfishness is not the measure of God.

Conservatives are just as rich as the other side. They can put their money into political campaigns, too, as I do. There is nothing to get in the way there. If Conservatives want to MAKE THE BEST PRODUCT out there, go right ahead and I’ll buy it. If they don’t do that, then I won’t buy it.

But, as for politics, I’ll vote and I’ll support any candidate that will act upon the conservative position in his duties in office and I’ll work with them, too, when they are in office for legislation that we need.

If I want to support organizations for what they do politically or religiously, I’ll give them MONEY FOR NOTHING, and not in exchange for products. I give money in exchange for products based on what they “DO FOR ME” and I vote according to how the laws should be, and I support political candidates in the basis of how they’ll be in office.

The “MONEY FOR NOTHING” organizations that one should support are listed in Post #57. Give THEM ... the MONEY FOR NOTHING if you want to support organizations for their political or religious afiliations!

— — —

In terms of “products” Android is crap, for what I’ve seen from others that I’ve been able to get my hands on them. I’ve got a few stupid relatives that have them and I can see what a BETTER PRODUCT I have!

As far as Chick-fil-A is concerned, I gave them three chances over a period of time and it’s still a CRAP PRODUCT! I won’t be back there again!

Gay people who buy Apple products often get very emotionally overwrought when discussing Starbucks.

As for me, I’ll buy the best stuff out on the market for what I want to do, and that’s the Apple Products. I do my political stuff at the ballot box, and I vote regularly, and I involve myself with legislators who will put the laws into place.

The profit you give to Apple nullifies most of what you do politically as they use it against you.

The free enterprise system and the marketplace is specifically designed to “give the profits” to companies who meet the needs of their customers. If you’ve got a product that is better than Apple’s products, then make it, and when you prove it’s better than Apple’s, you’ll have me buying it. It’s that simple!

Couples should not be given state licences to get married. Indivduals should be each licensed individually and whoever performs the ceremony can cross fill the papers which can be filed with the state thus legalizing the union.

The Nazi’s were THE BEST at making the trains run on time.

Gee, if only we were around 80 years ago. You would happily be buying shares in der Fuhrer Transportation, Inc.

What do YOU do? Are you of any use whatsoever? I can damn well guarantee you that anything you do could be done by an illegal for less money. Or better yet, outsourced to Calcutta or Taipei for a dollar a day.

But you keep hollering about how great Apple is (And how Chik-fil-A sucks) and we’ll keep laughing at you.

There is a reason Freddie Mercury wrote the words “ we will, we will rock you “ in the song We Are The Champaigns from the rock group Queen ( Queer ).
That song believe it or not is about militant homosexuality.
