NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – New York City public schools have added two Muslim holidays to the school calendar, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina announced Wednesday. Schools will now close for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, making New York City the largest school district in the nation to recognize the two holidays on the official school calendar. “We are committed to having a school calendar that reflects and honors the extraordinary diversity of our students,” said Farina.

That's a small number, but I wonder how many kids from ANY defined religious groups actually attend NYC public schools.
I am reminded of a person - a non-muslim- who about 10 years ago predicted that someday the White House would be a mosque.
Of course this sounded preposterous but maybe not so much now. I’ve thought that if the hijackers on 911 would have known the positive benefits of their terror - i.e. the USA rolls over and begs to be liked my her enemies - then they would have done it a whole lot sooner. Somehow Obama was supposed to bridge the gap - what a fiasco that turned out to be.

Actually, this may be the only way some Christian celebrations (Good Friday, Christmas, etc.) remain school holidays. People don’t understand that once a government is determined to be truly secular, even having Sundays off has to be justified. In the neighboring town here in NJ (a different county), they still have Blue Laws; malls are closed, along with most stores. Recent attempts to get rid of them were shot down when many non-Christians supported them to minimize mall-related traffic at least one day per week. I personally pity people forced to work on Sundays, and understand as we slip into serfdom that more & more people are being expected to do so; now many banks offer Sunday hours.
I’d imagine you will see the breaks that had been centered around Christmas & Easter reduced to accommodate the other denominations.
I don’t get it. It should be simple to use words from the Koran and Hadith to shame “Alinsky” the left and show them just how anti-woman anti gay, or just plain anti-liberal they are being for pushing Islam on us. Isn’t it time for a major effort?
For example, if I had a kid, in honor to the Eid, the day before it I would have words from the Koran written on a T-Shirt, that says “Happy Eid el Adha” followed by some quite inflamatory words from the Koran.
So a couple of months ago I'm out shopping for a 2015 calendar. I had to go to three different stores before I found a calendar that didn't list the muslim holidays.
Now I'm going to stir the pot a bit. After 9/11 Bush could have ground radical islam to bits. But he didn't. So now we have to deal with all this garbage.

Now we’ll know which day to keep the American kids out of the schools in case these walking time bombs want to celebrate by taking out a building.
