Commentary: ‘Irksome’ Ted Cruz is a stickler for process, a lightning rod for controversy
The Portland Press Herald ^ | March 29, 2015 | Marc Fisher, The Washington Post

Posted on 03/29/2015 10:53:01 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The Texas Republican's devotion to principle – or an unyielding insistence on getting his way – could propel him to the front ranks of Republican contenders for president or render him unelectable.

Ted Cruz looked out over a sprawling audience of Iowa farmers and agri-business leaders, people who rely on federal subsidies of ethanol, and the man who would be president stuck it to them.

“I know you’d like me to say I’m for the renewable fuel standard” – that’s the subsidy of their product – “that’d be the easy thing to do,” he said. “But I’m going to tell you the truth.” He’d take away their subsidy, he said with a big smile.

The farmers sat on their hands.

A week earlier, in a vast ballroom at Maryland’s National Harbor, where blood-red conservatives gathered to evaluate a showcase of Republican presidential wannabes, Cruz was again the steely man of principle. He railed against Washington, slammed his opponents (“Hillary Clinton embodies the corruption of Washington”) and asked the true believers to demand of their candidates, “When have (you) been willing to stand up against Republicans?” The son of a Cuban man who saw what happens when freedom is stripped away swore that “I’ll die before I let it happen again.”

This time, the crowd stood as one, roaring with admiration and hope....

The Texas Republican’s devotion to principle—or an unyielding insistence on getting his way
The latter applies to Obama. But Fisher did try, didn’t he.
In Iowa at the agriculture summit, Cruz moved past the uncomfortable moment about ethanol and fed the audience a heaping plate of rhetorical delights: “abolish the IRS”; the EPA is “completely lawless”; over the past 17 years, the planet has seen “no warming whatsoever.” …
Nothing rhetorical about any of that.

Ted Cruz’s full name, Raphael Edward Cruz.

Raphael, a name of Hebrew origin meaning “God has healed”.

Let us pray so.

I would hardly say the Washington Post is pushing a Hispanic. They are doing everything in their power to discredit him. Anyone not pro-Washington has to be destroyed. Freedom is fading people, once it is gone we won’t get it back.

Correction - zero is half-black. Ted Cruz is a white Hispanic. That would be half-Hispanic in real terms. Ethnicity isn’t a skin color. Unlike the squatter now occupying the WH (when he’s there) Ted loves America.

The problem Cruz has is name recognition, that is quickly being resolved, whether the reports are good (this is a good one) or hateful his name is getting out there, Cruz is capable of sifting the wheat from the chafe regarding negative reporting once everybody knows his name, he knows of righteous examples to follow to obtain his goal, and yes his enemies will always abound but his person will diminish their effect over time as he proves he means to restore our Constitutional Free Republic.

Senator Cruz, unlike some GOPees and all democrats, is a controversial man because he tells the truth and so many Americans have corrupted themselves with federal handouts and unjust privileges that they hate that which is good, and that is the truth of it.

“Experimental Hispanic.....”

“.....end ethanol subsidy, abolish the IRS; the EPA is completely lawless; over the past 17 years, the planet has seen no warming whatsoever...” PLUS

Negative Ace, John McCain hates him.

Well, Viva Cuban libre!

This is the type of experiment my family has been waiting for since F flipping, D flipping, Roosevelt flipped up the whole shebang back in 32.

Close DC. Shut it down. Shut it all down.

But that is just my opinion and I don’t feel strongly about it.
