Boehner: Obama treatment of Netanyahu 'reprehensible'

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) blasted President Obama on Sunday for his treatment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I think the animosity exhibited by our administration toward the prime minister of Israel is reprehensible," Boehner said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"And I think the pressure they've put on him over the last four or five years have frankly pushed him to the point where he had to speak up," Boehner added.

Boehner's remarks came when asked about criticism from Obama and the White House over Netanyahu's pre-election comments on the Palestinian state and Arab Israeli citizens.

Boehner, who invited Netanyahu to address Congress on March 3 without first informing the White House, argued that the U.S.-Israeli relationship – and the relationship between Congress and Israel – had been strengthened in recent months.

He maintained Sunday the speech was intended only to highlight the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program, though many viewed the speech as an affront to the Obama administration's push to secure a deal over Tehran's program. Those talks face a March 31 deadline.

The Speaker travels to Israel this week for a trip he said was planned months ago, before Netanyahu's address to Congress. However, he said he has no plans to speak to Israel's Knesset parliament.

"I don't need all the fanfare," he told CNN.

The way John treats conservative voters is reprehensible.

No, I am sure; it would make it more difficult for him to continue to do nothing to remove jihadi Obama from office. Congress, by its failure to act, is complicit in the coming deaths of millions and the subjugation of millions more to Islamic terrorism.

From: http://www.speaker.gov/general/background-invitation-prime-minister-netanyahu

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted Speaker Boehner’s invitation to address a joint meeting of Congress. In the days since, there have been questions regarding the nature and origin of the Speaker’s invitation.

A handful of media reports have claimed that the Israelis “orchestrated” the invitation. This is flat-out wrong. As Speaker Boehner has said, the Congress is a separate and co-equal branch of government. It was the Speaker’s right to invite the Prime Minister of Israel, and he did so for one reason and one reason only: so the Prime Minister could speak about one of the most important issues facing the Middle East and the world – the stakes regarding Iran.

In the interests of transparency, here is relevant background information that the Office of the Speaker has provided to the media:

The process of inviting the Prime Minister was a coordinated effort between Speaker Boehner’s office and Senate Majority Leader McConnell’s office. Discussions began on the staff level late last year.

On January 8, Speaker Boehner called Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer to gauge the Prime Minister’s interest in an invitation – and we were informed that the Prime Minister was open in principle to an invitation. The Speaker made it clear that it was his prerogative to inform the White House. We then went about identifying potential dates for an address.

On the afternoon of January 20, the day of the State of the Union, we informed Ambassador Dermer of our intent to issue the invitation and our intent to notify the administration of the invitation. He accepted and acknowledged our intent to do so.

On the morning of January 21, after notifying the administration, the Speaker issued the invitation to the Prime Minister and announced it to the public. “In this time of challenge,” Boehner said, “I am asking the Prime Minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life.”

The Prime Minister graciously accepted the invitation and asked to speak on March 3, when he will already be in Washington for the AIPAC conference.

The Speaker and his team enjoy a strong working relationship with the Prime Minister, Ambassador, and their team, and we will continue to work together in the interests of peace and security.

OB, Cryin' John is sure working hard on the Righty-Wing-ish sound bite thing. We are supposed to be duly impressed.

Now if the drunken SOB crap-weasel would only do his constitutional duty and lead the RINOs to cut off The Mombasa MF's allowance, we might get somewhere.

If Boehner thinks this kind of talk causes me to support him and the GOP Establshment, the answer is NO.

Boehner and the GOPe support bankrupting the country through continuing increases in the nation’s debt ceiling.

The GOPe also gives us Amnesty and Obamacare because they will not reverse either of them.

The GOPe also promotes Common Core in education and the list goes on.........
