NEWARK, N.J. — Michelle Obama celebrated the beauty, power and tenacity of black woman while spreading her own message of education for girls at Black Girls Rock!, an annual event honoring trailblazing women of color from all walks of life.
"No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you are beautiful," Obama told the crowd, which included many young black girls.
"I am so proud of you. My husband, your president, is so proud of you," she added. "We have so much hope and dreams for you."

It’s not easy being a young black woman looking to be found beautiful marriage material by a young black, or any, man.
Part of it is culture and the effect of bad government policy. I have no problem with Michelle attending and speaking at such an event.

When First Lady Laura Bush made the statement “Whit Girls Rock!!!!” There was a similar outcry.............oh wait.......that never happened.
It’s like she’s a cheerleader for the cheerleaders.
I’m sick of her racism. White girls and Hispanic girls and Asian girls rock, too!
She thought she had to make sure they knew her husband is their president? Really? As though they didn't know?
If she or Barry is out making a public appearance, I want it covered.

No suggestion of stay in school, do your homework, respect your parents, avoid the thug lifestyle that will lead to jail and drugs just encouraging mindless empty words they all want to hear, we are proud of you in your present state, you are beautiful dont ever change your on the right track and we love you. The self esteemery eminating from the girls present did not reduce their goal of pregnancy and WIC checks one whit.
