Senator Ted Cruz's Contradictory Position on Illegal
American Thinker ^ | March 28, 2015 | Allan J. Favish

[BIG SNIP]

".....Sen. Cruz is America’s last hope for a credible border. By that I mean a border that is controlled by the citizens of America, not the citizens of other countries. I mean a border that is controlled primarily for the benefit of citizens of America, not the citizens of other countries. I mean a border that is controlled by an American population that appreciates and welcomes immigrants, but only when they come here legally, and in numbers that are conducive to their assimilation into the American value system that is based on the principles expressed in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

Is Sen. Cruz going to give us doubletalk about illegal immigration like all of the others who will be running for President? Is the primary problem with America’s immigration laws, or is it with the willingness of America’s government officials to enforce those laws?

It is time for Sen. Cruz to tell the citizens of America something that will allow us to look into our children’s eyes, and tell them that there is still a chance for a credible border under the rule of law. Given his contradictory position, Sen. Cruz owes this to America’s citizens, who watch in agony as their country disappears with its rule of law, and he owes this to those who have not violated our law and seek to become American citizens in conformity with present law.

Indeed. It should not be hard to state a very clear position on immigration and enforcement no matter who it is.

Sorry 2nd...you are talking to a guy who wants automated .50 cals on the border every 500 yards.

Illegal is illegal.....and people with no right to be here should be deported post haste.

I’d give them 6 months to self deport...no questions asked.....after that you get locked up for a year if caught and then deported.

After the national divorce that might be very possible. In today’s PC environment? Not a chance in hell.

Only a question of will.

Walker’s position, the one he was attacked for was misrepresented by the lamestream press (surprise surprise). He did not call for a “pathway to citizenship” as was reported.

His position is very much like that of Ted Cruz, who suggests some sort of legal status that cannot by law ever be a stepping stone to citizenship, and that only for non-law-breakers.

Cruz never supported any form of legalization of illegals, though Walker supported naturalization, citizenship, in a television interview.

The author of this article, Allan Favish, wants clarity from Cruz as to what, if any, status Cruz proposes to give illegals, short of citizenship. Cruz's answer is that he won't speculate on that until the border, and "interior enforcement systems" are secured. Any speculation on that, in his spokeswoman's view, "could encourage more illegal immigration".

To my mind, that's "self deport" without saying so. We just need to trust Cruz; but for starters he is already ahead of all the competition. This is very smart politics.

How come every other country can do it? Mexico even built a border fence against Guatemala.

Geez, if you were referring to me, what I posted was not an attack if it was your impression that it was. I was just pointing out your tactics were already plain to see as Rick Perry 2010 all over again. You were on and on and on about everyone else, until he stumbled so badly that you had to retreat into silence to keep from embarrassing yourself any further.

Is it important that we know what is being written? Absolutely, but most here are adults, can read, and have the ability for critical and deductive reasoning. Your selective editorializing along the way is exactly what we despise from the MSM. To me, it comes off as just another negative campaign commercial. The only thing missing is the dark morbid sound clip running in the background switching to happy little tunes when your favorite is brought up.

Let us vet them all without being a shill for another. That is all I ask because too much of the latter is just background noise that distracts, as most often it is meant to be.

To that, I will end by saying it is not becoming to be pulling your candidate’s float around town by dragging it with a D9 bulldozer.

>> It’s crazy that an issue like this which is political suicide for the GOP resulting in a demographic winter from which they might never return

Nicely stated, but the GOP is likely thinking about preserving affordable, productive labor for its donation base. Ironically, the GOP is practicing extreme capitalism.

Call us when a candidate specifically calls for all those here illegally deported regardless of their personal circumstances, like being brought here at 6 years old.

Both Walker and Cruz know that doing that would have the same effect as endorsing Hillary.

This is a very difficult political problem that Republicans/conservatives have to deal with, libs on MSNBC are already sure that it will gain them the WH for the next few decades, but I am not giving 2016 up to Jeb/Hillary this early in the race because of it

Won't being the key Word....being used as a contraction of "will not"

I had some problems with Walker earlier about some very particular statements he made in an interview (to which I listened in its entirety). You and I talked back and forth about it. I set all that aside after Walker came out again and issued a new more recent position and really am not going to try and trash him on it.

For my guy Cruz, there have been very recent news about his ‘moderation of views’ and a lot of discussion back and forth about context, citations, etc. I’m not happy about work permits, but I can understand it.

We have two conservative candidates with ardent followers on both sides, and my feeling is that the coming distinctions to be made between them should be amicable and largely between the candidates as they mature in their campaigns. In EITHER case, we all should be vehemently fighting outside MSM and Democrat attacks on both and preserving the viability of both in that respect.

As for my views on illegals, I realize there are logistical problems with mass deportations. I would first advocate an insurmountable border defense that stops ALL traffic into this country, especially from Texas all the way to California.

Secondly, I support very harsh penalties for employers that hire illegals for any purpose coupled with a complete official cutoff of all entitlements available to normal citizens. I wouldn’t even allow them into our court systems save that needed to punish them for violating our laws. They can exist in the shadows or go the hell home for all I care.

Lastly, I realize that it is a tough, touchy topic and I do have some compassion. I probably would be convinced to have a program to allow some to stay here on work permits with no entitlement benefits and to PAY their share of taxes.

Lastly, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES would these people EVER be allowed to become US Citizens and vote in this country.

We’ll see what we see as far as candidates go.

Legal immigration as currently practiced is overwhelmingly non white, whether is is based on merit, family or ‘diversity’ it matter not as long as we have race based political groups i.e. The Hispanic Caucus. Groups that work from a position of ethnicity and race to influence and formulate laws and these laws, polices and groups by their very definition are anti-white. Why would ANY white person think that continuing or even expanding this system is a good idea?

Personally

I don’t think any GOP CANDIDATE will round up and deport most of the illegals here

Push come to shove....maybe 5% of those here now

This isn’t 1954 and that was only what....a million first year and maybe another half million next 8 years total....and that counts border turnarounds

Even Open Borders Obama deports and/or turns around 3-400,000 a year now

I’d love to see it but I don’t....not Cruz not Walker not Palin

The worm has turned

Make it tough to be here is more likely....round ups and deportations no

Not enough folks here want that like we do...

Just my opinion

If we deincentivize....how many leave....no idea

Maybe a couple million....I think 20 million are here

Killing anchor baby privilege and family anchor is the biggest step that could maybe get support

Walker & Cruz have the nearly identical position on immigration, but that does not stop some FReepers from one camp from attacking the other candidate.

Which is stupid and should stop.
