San Francisco mayor bans publicly-funded travel to Indiana

San Francisco prides itself as a tolerant place, but it is closed off to one thing: Indiana.

On Thursday, San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee, a Democrat, directed all City Departments under his authority to bar publicly funded travel to the Hoosier State.

The decision followed Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence’s decision to sign a “religious freedom” bill that critics say effectively sanctions discrimination of LGBT citizens by private businesses.

“We stand united as San Franciscans to condemn Indiana’s new discriminatory law,” Lee said in a statement.

“San Francisco taxpayers will not subsidize legally-sanctioned discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people by the State of Indiana.”

And when the ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBCMYTimes media says “that’s nice but we’re gojng to spend our time reporting on that bakery who turned down the gay guys instead”, then what?

We take to Alternative media....Fox, talk radio and Internet. And the narrative for 80% of the country is framed by the communications wing of the Democrat party.

The only solution is for a true conservative to buy ABC, NBC or CBS and change the culture in their newsrooms.

The problem is “Federal Judges”..who should be reigned in either by Federalism (the states ignoring them) or Congress curtailing Federal Judicial Review powers.

If they want to make a huge deal out of this, lets roll with it. I propose we all travel to Indiana and proudly state “Liberty or Death”, Indiana can secede. The rest of the midwest will follow and we can sanction the west and east coast, and not allow goods through. Good luck elitist liberals.

How often do San Francisco city officials travel to Indiana on official city business? Once every ten years?

I wish the San Fran City Council would boycott Catholic schools and leave the San Fran Archbishop alone.

"The decision followed Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence’s decision to sign a “religious freedom” bill that critics say effectively sanctions discrimination of LGBT citizens by private businesses."

In the real world, this bill will probably effect fewer than 500 business transactions in Indiana each year, out of - what? - 200 million transactions? 500 million? A billion? If 2 million people in Indiana engage in 100 business transactions a year - less than one every three days - that would be 200 million business transactions, and that's probably a low figure.

Can Gov. Pence now ban all state travel to San Freaksicko to keep his employees from contracting AIDS? It’s already an issue in his state after all.

Free Speech?

No, we don’t do free speech here.

It’s homophobic.

Now go pay your taxes (which we’ll be raising). Your hardworking government needs a raise.

Where is Reince Priebus on this? What’s he been doing since November, steam ironing the same pair of pants over and over? He does nothing to support the GOP that stand up for what is good and fair, not just convienant.

SF is a petri dish of foulness...its most disgusting. The touristy spots even get sprayed with bleach to clean the human waste off the sidewalks. From a distance it looks scenic...up close make sure u have all ur shots up to date.

“Does this ban also include the other 19 states that ALREADY have this law?
Or is this just another lib seeking “TOLERANCE!” through intolerance of others viewpoints?”

lol clearly they are trying to make it into a drama, as if Christianity can’t have rights to their own believes, when it conflicts with bowing down before embracing sodomites sinful ways.

In any event now that I know I won’t be seeing San Franciscan politicians & bureaucrats in Indiana, it sounds like a great place to visit. The last thing anyone wants to see on a holiday is a man cross dressing. or for that matter hear a politician arguing for the virtue of sin before their children.

Yes some people who have families are actually interested in having grand children and a viable legacy.

Oh, this reminds me of past City of Austin Council knee-jerk resolutions. Remember the good ol’ days when Colorado passed a law that was “anti-gay” in the early 1990s? The Left condemned them and many passed anti-tourism ordinances that forbid travel to the state of Colorado? The Austin council passed such an ordinance then promptly left for a weekend seminar in Aspen.

The City Council also banned anyone using their facilities who had business ties to South Africa back in the apartheid days yet graciously welcomed singer Paul Simon who had just enjoyed a hit album which was partly recorded and performed in South Africa.

The point is liberals are emotional idiots who don’t mean half the bans they declare except that it makes them feel good and proud and on the “right side of history”.

Would like to know how often in the past they have traveled there. I am guessing close to zero.
