Prosecutors in the western city of Duesseldorf said they seized medical documents from the home of 27-year-old Andreas Lubitz that indicate “an existing illness and appropriate medical treatment”.

Prosecutor Ralf Herrenbrueck said in a statement Friday that torn-up sick notes for the day of the crash “support the current preliminary assessment that the deceased hid his illness from his employer and colleagues”.

Herrenbrueck said the search of Lubitz’s home revealed no suicide note or evidence of any political or religious motivation for his actions. He did not say what illness the co-pilot had.

I think an ongoing illness (mental or otherwise) is a likelier angle than the reports about his being a recent convert to the ROP.

Good morning...They keep saying he had about 600 hours in the A320..OK..everyone has to start at zero..but the real question is how much flying has he done since he started as co-pilot with Lufthansa..I want to see those records..

All privacy rights should be lost in a situation like this. Divulge his entire medical history to the public. Screw hippa.

Prosecutor’s spokesman Ralf Herrenbrueck said in a written statement that torn-up sick notes for the day of the crash ‘support the current preliminary assessment that the deceased hid his illness from his employer and colleagues’.

Such sick notes from doctors excusing employees from work are common in Germany and issued even for minor illnesses. Mr Herrenbrueck didn’t say details of what illness Lubitz was suffering from.

Mr Herrenbrueck said other medical documents found indicated ‘an existing illness and appropriate medical treatment’. Germanwings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, refused to comment on the new information.

As well as having been signed off from training with depression in 2008, it was reported this morning that Lubitz had continued to receive mental health support up until this week’s crash.

Lubitz was said to be in a ‘relationship crisis’ with his girlfriend in the weeks before the crash and was struggling to cope with a potential break-up, German newspaper Bild reported.

IIRC Lufthansa is one of the airlines that hires nonprofessional pilots and trains them from the ground up.

US carriers tend to hire former cargo pilots (UPS, FEDEX) as well as military aviators.

I don’t think HIPPA laws apply here, as he was German.

They had a group of psychologists on the radio yesterday saying that his age was ripe for onset of serious mental illness and that his actions mirrored those of someone acting out their mental problems.

Here’s my “tin hat” theory......

Someone must have gotten paid by the odumbo ilk to create the illusion he had an illness that caused him to take his and all those other unfortunate people to their deaths in order to hid the fact that he was a “terrorist”. Why would the WH make such a quick announcement that the crash was NOT an act of terrorism. Perhaps they knew too much already about the cause of that crash. NOTHING odumbo and his ilk do or say would surprise me.

bout of depression in 2009...

Bi-polar maybe?

The worst scenario would be a bi-polar mudslim, in the manic state.

Are you suggesting lack of experience was the problem that caused him to lock the pilot out of the cockpit and fly the plane into the ground?

He became a fully licensed copilot in Sept 2013...that's 18-19 months ago..

I assume he was flying short to medium length legs inside Europe..about 2 hours duration..from what I read pilots on these legs fly about 90 hours/month...give or take...so 18 x 90 = 1670 hours...OK..cut it back for whatever..assume 1200 hours..looks like he was way underused...unless he flew a different plane..which is highly unlikely..you don't start a novice off by having him learn 2 different airplanes..

No..see my #18..I’m wondering why he had so little hours..Lufthansa doesn’t pay pilots to sit around..and from what I understand...newly minted pilot s want to fly as much, and as often as possible..remember when you got your driver’s license..all of a sudden you were eager to do all those errands for your parents..

Medical treatment might have been “appropriate” but it only works if you use it.
