Scott Walker Endorses Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants at Private GOP Dinner

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker may be on the verge of burning himself down before he actually gets started, given what is now becoming something of a circus regarding his actual stance on immigration.

According to this new Wall Street Journal report, it’s quite possible a supporter of Jeb Bush, or another candidate went to the media regarding Walker’s recent comments at a private GOP dinner, it doesn’t matter. With three sources now (anonymously) on record, he appears to have Walkered himself right into this one. If his name becomes synonymous with waffling on a critical issue like immigration, his next nickname may be toast!

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told a private dinner of New Hampshire Republicans this month that he backed the idea of allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the country and to eventually become eligible for citizenship, a position at odds with his previous public statements on the matter.

Given the history here, it may now be impossible to know precisely where Walker stands, with supporters left to assume the worst — that he’s just another open borders Republican — becoming the default across the conservative grassroots whose support he needs to win.

If he has or will take money from the Chamber of Amnesty, it’s all moot.

If Walker did not say this, it is simple enough for his campaign to issue a clearly worded clarification.

Is there a clarification? His supporters can only try to explain this away for a short time, then Walker begins to look ridiculous.

Walker also has Democrats in the Senate and House and STILL is able to get his ultra conservative agenda through.

So?

If there were more Democrats than Republicans then you would have a point.

So a Jeb supporter says this and some weak-minded FReepers swallow anything a RINO spews against Walker....only because he is leading Cruz in the polls.

I think it's clear. Just as with other pro-ILLEGAL aliens Republicans (Perry, Bush, Paul, Carson, Christie, etc) he does not deserve my vote.

These illegals should be charged with a felony. Deported as persona non-grata and forbidden to return.

Agree 100%. And while we're at it, install Israeli-style fences on the southern border.

SELF Deportation is the answer. Arizona tried it. It worked. Didn’t cost them a dime in deportation expenses and over a million left. Then SCOTUS screwed that up.

Exactly right. Show them that the welfare gravy train is over, declare an "amnesty" period for them to get out while the getting is good, and when that's over, start incarceration and forced deportations.

I think, ideally, that what we should do when we find them. But, let’s assume someone has been here for 10 years. Has had no arrests. Why not offer him the opportunity to file for citizenship and go from there. Make sure they speak the language, pass a citizenship test. Give him a green card. If it takes 10 years to citizenship or more, what’s wrong with that.

Compare that with the gang bangers that we pick up. Send them back pronto.

No medical cards, no tax money, no college tuition.

I agree with you, but it needs to be done on the county level, neighborhood to neighborhood.

I think that most GOP candidates do support amnesty. They give each other cover.

Many of us knew Walker was pro-amnesty but his FR-bots could not grasp reality and denied the facts.

Walker needs to come out and unequivocally say he will not support amnesty or a path to citizenship period.

Anything short of that means he is for amnesty and deserves no further consideration.

And the Chamber of Commerce idiots here on Free Republic need to get a brain when they push this amnesty and citizenship kick.
When the democrats and Hispanics take overwhelming control of our government - about 20 years if the Bushes and Roves and Ryans get their way - there won’t be a Free Republic.

“With three sources now (anonymously) on record...”

Could just as well be:

“Three unnamed Jeb Bush staffers have come forward...”

Freepers ought to be ashamed of themselves for falling for these dirty tricks. If you dispute this, then ask yourself: ‘what possible reason could these sources have to request that they remain anonymous?’

I agree with you, but it needs to be done on the county level, neighborhood to neighborhood.

That idea turns sanctuary cities into ghetto enclaves. No. Illegal immigration is a Federal crime.
