Nannystater.

Disappointing to see so many BIG GOVERNMENT NANNY STATERS on a conservative, small government site.

Again, you prove time and time again in your posts that you need big government to tell YOU how to live, to set YOUR moral standards because YOU can’t function in this world without having YOUR hand held.

Talk about kindergartners.

Lets talk about that "successful" government control of illicit drugs in this country:

Review: Cartel funded DEA agent sex parties

If you can't control yourself, there is no way having a law against it is going to stop you. If anything, the government colludes to maintain and expand their power over us. Making us fearful of our own shadows. Sickening.

Stopping the spread of a dangerous and illegal disease is completely within the Government's mandate to protect the populace. It is a proper function and proper role for government.

You pot advocates simply use the pejorative "nanny state" because you want to falsely equate a normal function of government to government excess in order to justify your own desire to indulge yourselves in the pharmacopeia you prefer.

IMO, think very thoroughly about where this sort of thing goes. Leave this topic to the drug promoters. Advocate against it elsewhere. Good advice for everyone? If you don’t see, think some more. Then, you’ll see.

I sorta like manning the barricades. :)

Really? Dangerous disease... like heart disease? Cancer? Stop smoking, don’t eat so much sugar.

Social “conservatives” are not different than liberals. Different side of the same coin.

Admit it, you want the government to enforce YOUR morality. When you do that, you will realize you are a liberal at heart.

These guys don't get it that it must mean meth and heroin. You do a good job. And it is a hard one to try and call them on their lies and hypocrisies

I used to be like that in my silly youth to early 30s probably. And it was this site that helped me understand that no, we don’t need another law; we don’t need another government agency. We have to be responsible for our own actions and suffer our own consequences.

Governments do not solve anything. Their best intentions are always corrupted by those that want more power. Morality comes from my faith, not my government.

Not enough go to na or AA for faith to to help. I’ve seen soo many people ruined by pot or opiates to count. People can’t control themselves with these substances

Really? Dangerous disease... like heart disease?

Sure, if people are spreading around heart disease in the form of a pill. Certainly the government should stop that.

Cancer?

If someone is spreading cancer, they should not let them do it.

Stop smoking, don’t eat so much sugar.

And now you go off into kooky land. No, the government shouldn't be regulating what people want to eat, but brain altering chemicals? You bet.

Admit it, you want the government to enforce YOUR morality.

That is all that laws are. Someone's morality. I want them enforcing a morality to which I do not object, not one to which I do. And it is necessary that they do so. Society cannot exist without certain moral standards. Without theft being considered immoral, we could have no financial system. Without Murder being considered immoral, we could have no free association.

You may not grasp this, but we are going to get enforced morality. The only question is who's? I prefer it to be rational and objective.

Oh, once you have made the mistake, you are going to need a lot of help and support.

I meant my faith defined my morality. Before every using drugs - I relied on my faith to set the boundaries. Not the government. I couldn’t care less what the government says is right or wrong.

Thank you:

Proved it, you are a liberal.

Proved it, you are a liberal.

If you lack mental discipline, everything proves what you wish it to prove. It's a shame you didn't grasp the point I was making, but I suspect you can't.
