Wow, sounds like a Sunni-Shi’a War is underway. Imagine if Iran already had nukes.

Sorta funny tagline...if it weren’t so depressing. Whole world’s going to hell in a handbasket, the handbasket’s on fire - and these are the leadership options being bought and shoved down our throats. Unbelievable.

I am glad to see Saudi Arabia having to do some of the hard work for themselves for a change.

Thanks - Yes, another Bush vs. Clinton run is not what is needed in today’s world.

Found this embedded in an LA times article on the ‘plundered intel files’.

“A Houthi-controlled TV channel announced a $20-million bounty for Hadi’s capture, and his Aden compound was hit by airstrikes.”

Kind of odd to just call them rebels when they control a TV station and can conduct air strikes over the Presidents head.

This smacks of another well coordinated and well funded insurgency.

From a poster over at the NYT online site:

There is a very important reason why the US is involved in Yemen. The world in general would be much more expensive if maritime transport had to go around Africa instead of through the Red Sea and Suez Canal. Look at a map of where Yemen is. Now remember that Somalia is already a failed state harassing worldwide shipping.

The US will get out of Yemen when you can fit a supermax container vessel’s cargo capacity in a giant airplane. Don’t hold your breath.

The Mandab Strait. 3.3 million tanker barrels per day out of 43 million world wide. Of course that is just oil. The Persians appear to have a well thought out battle plan. The Houti and Iranian forces will drive up the eastern side of a mountain ridge that travels along the eastern Red Sea coastline. Ship bombardment won’t work. We will probably have to park an operational carrier in the Red Sea to hit the eastern side of the ridge.

US and British forces are likely involved at least with intelligence, and the US and UK may launch airstrikes themselves in yemen soon.

This link has a lot of interesting details. Some fear that the Iranians might have included nuclear weapons if they have any from the Pakistanis. This move by Iran and their Shiite Houti supporters appears aimed at controlling the mouth of the Red Sea (in other words the Suez Canal). If Iran succeeds, then along with Hormuz Straits, they will control passage of over 40% of shipped oil. Glad to see the Gulf states are finally going to use all that military hardware for something other than attacking Israel.

That story about the Iranians dropping off 185 tons of military hardware actually broke 4 to 5 days ago. Did not see it posted any where here. That was about the time the Israelis started warning that Iran was the real concern. Not ISIS. Kinda strange that ValJar would start using her puppet to attack Israel at this exact time. This article is interesting for the background info.

Houthis similar to Hezbollah

Read that Pakistan supports the actions of Saudi Arabia. Pakistanis are holding Saudis nukes. They can nuke Iran from Pakistan fairly easily. Iran might have snuck a small EMP device into Yemen though. Would come in handy if they make a move north toward Mecca.
