VA paid $288K to 'relocate' official from D.C. to Phila

--snip-- "The government shouldn't be in the business of doling out hundreds of thousands in cash to extremely well-compensated executives just to move less than three hours down the road," said Rep. Jeff Miller (R., Fla.). "For VA to pay such an outrageous amount in relocation expenses at a time when the department is continually telling Congress and taxpayers it needs more money raises questions about VA's commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency and true reform."

Well, Jeff, if you really are upset, find out who authorized the expenditure and fire him.

They don’t care. It’s not their money! Who gives a rats behind!
This is their attitude.

Good to see that our hard-earned tax dollars help pay for her caviar.

They’d have to pay me more than that
to move to Philly, a lot more.

Bet they bought out her DC house as part of her moving deal, which often happens in federal agencies.

A comment that was posted claimed she sold her house for some 620 odd thousand dollars. I have no idea if this statement is true ....but obtaining the information would not be difficult as most sales are public information. The VA is just as bad if not worse than any other agency under the executive branch. No real verification of any actions as they all police themselves until they supposedly have an independent inspector come in and try to breakdown the books. The federal government IS the enemy and the employees are complicit as well...grab as much as you can and to hell with the republic...no one will go to jail,no monies will be recovered, and IF an explanation is ever given it will be years down the road. When public employment has better pay and benefits with very little punishment for what would be considered theft/embezzlement in the private sector AND a union that just wants to perpetuate the graft and corruption so as to justify these actions what is a citizen who partially funds this to do? Me I am self-employed and I do my damndest not to give any money to what I consider the true enemy of our republic that being the federal government itself. I see no end to the pilfering until huge cuts of many agencies occur...dissolve multiple agencies and throw the responsibility back to each individual state where it will hopefully be able to be more closely monitored ...beyond outright violence I see no other option.

Interesting. IMHO, senior executives in federal service ought to be required to live in apartments so that they can more easily be rotated around, as is usually required within the agencies. But they absolutely have to have their mansions. Potomac, Maryland is full of them.
