Topless woman removed from House of Commons after protesting anti-terror bill

A topless woman protesting the Conservative government’s anti-terror bill was ejected from the House of Commons on Monday during a discussion about honouring Vietnamese refugees.

The protester, Neda Topaloski with the Canadian wing of the international Femen movement, was in the sitting in public gallery, with two guards standing nearby on either side of her, she said. One of the security guards stepped out briefly, so seeing an opportunity, she took off her shirt. The officers gave chase and Ms. Topaloski ran about the gallery, screaming: “C-51 is war on freedom.”

As Connie Fournier, founder of Free Dominion, says, even if you accept that this government would not abuse the legislation, a future government might turn it against conservatives.

It is wise to not grant any more power to government than you would have used against you.

We have seen how totalitarian progress has been made in America, if not by one side, then by the other, always for altruistic motive, and (so far, at some point) turned against the citizenry. While the EPA is one shining example, the provisions found in the Patriot Act, the NDAA, and other legislation remain available to be used against the people if those who are in office so choose. Never give them a bigger stick than you want to be beaten with.

I guess I'm just disappointed that about 95% of these feminists who go topless to protest something usually don't have much need for a bra in the first place. They don't give me the cheap thrill that I was looking for, so I lash out at them.
