Mark Levin just OBLITERATED the argument ‘we need a governor for president’

You know the argument some people are making against Ted Cruz, that we need a governor to be president? Well let me tell you, Mark Levin just completely obliterated that argument like no one else I’ve heard. And he didn’t do it in the name of Ted Cruz or any specific candidate. But it’s awesome and something you’ll definitely want to hear:

I have made this same argument many times here on FR. This idea that governors make the best presidents doesn't stand up to historical reality.

It is a bogus argument, and personally I wish so many Freepers would stop making it, although it is their right to do so, obviously.

Our nation reached a point 33 years ago where qualifications for the office were discarded as a consideration for selecting candidates.

Same here. It is Bambi’s marxism and ego that make him a fool. I said many times in 2008 that bambi would make Jimmy Carter look like Margaret Thatcher. Nobody can argue that. He is really worse than I thought.
People who say lack of executive experience is the problem have their heads in the mud.
Bambi is a radical’s radical, thinks he is king and is becoming so with the weenie GOPE permission.

say what you may - my preference would be a successful state governor, a CEO of large organization or military general or admiral with record of success.

These types have handled the day to day functions of a large organization, know how to properly delegate authority, able to manage people to get the maximum out of them for the good of the country.

Congressmen and senators just don’t have the right experiences.

I like Cruz and some of the others, but this country needs a proven leader at this point in time.IMO

It matters little whether the nominee is a governor or senator. What matters most is that the nominee appeal to MAJORITY of voters in general election. Which means he/she must be telegenic, likable and CONNECT with them.

McCain was not telegenic. To make natters worse, he was short and pudgy.
Romney could’nt connect with conservative voters and to make matters worse, he did not counter punch the community organizer.

Most former governor presidents have been disasters. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Woodrow Wilson, George w. Bush, FDR. And you want a CEO? How about Donald Trump?

Reagan wasn’t a great president because he was a governor. He was a great president because he understood what America was all about and new how to sell it.

The fact is, America was built on principles and an idea, and those now are considered by the “mainstream” to be extremist crackpot stuff.

Just today, we read about a public school in Lexington, MA — LEXINGTON ! — where an American pride-themed prom is cancelled because it’s offensive.

Ted Cruz, apart from being the smartest candidate, is the only one who wants to and who can sell the vision of American liberty.

That is the single most important quality for the presidency. As it happens, he has an amazing resume, and also is a man of real integrity.

What the hell good is a former governor? Jeb Bush is a former governor. Are you ready to support him over Ted Cruz? Seriously?

I’m watching Ted Cruz do his one hour appearance on Hannity, and he is just flawless.

What is important to me is an honest man who believes in conservative values and in American values and can explain those values to others who may not in such a way that he convinces them to believe in them as well.

What is important to me is a man who believes in American exceptionalism and in the exceptionalism of America’s citizens.

A person is either a leader, or they are not, and what makes a leader is when that leader leads, others follow.

Whether or not they can manage day to day functions or manage people is not what makes a leader. It might make a manager of a company, or a governor of a state, but that is not what makes a leader of a country.

Ted Cruz is clearly a leader, because where he is going, people want to follow.

It’s really as simple as that.

I beg to differ with you regarding Ted’s experience. He has proven himself a leader, just because someone gets elected as a governor doesn’t make them a good leader. Besides, a good leader will surround himself with good advisers. You need to rethink your pitiful argument.

Yeah, I agree. We don’t revere Reagan because of his ability to manage the government. That is small ball. We revere him because he was a visionary who moved the country in the direction of his ideas. That’s the stuff that Cruz has got, I think.

I agree with you, but FR has a tendency to “group think” so you’re going to get flack.

I’m not going to jump on the Cruz bandwagon this early. I’m interested in seeing how the primaries play out. I want to hear what the others say and how they fare on the stump and in the debates.

I also watched Ted on Hannity, and I must say that I am blown away.

This is the man I will vote for.

At this point I would vote for Mitch Daniels. Mike Pence would be better I think. If a Dem should win I’d hope its Evan Bayh. I know I’m gonna take a wooping for this but Cruz doesn’t excite me. I’d take him over Evan, just so we’re clear. The more I listen to and hear about Paul the less likely to listen again.
