A fierce row has broken out between Stephen King and Maine Governor Paul LePage after the governor claimed that the author doesn't pay state income taxes and has moved away from the state. King immediately shot back that LePage should 'man up and apologize' for the comments because he still resides in Maine. LePage's comments came during his weekly radio address when he argued that states without an income tax, like Florida, have lured away Maine residents, including King.

Jeter’s home in Tampa (The Davis Island area) is beautiful. His house is on the water and we pass it when we boat.

I know the district my parents summer home is in is solidly a R district. A new guy was elected after the representative retired. ( the old rep was 88. The new rep is my summer friend’s brother.)

Arizona has a sales tax and an income tax? Why the heck are the road conditions so horrible w/ all that tax money coming in?

No, Guv, States without income tax don't "lure" people to them - States WITH income tax drive people AWAY.

All what money?

The entire population of Arizona is about 6.75 million including children.

Don't forget what 120+deg. heat does to asphalt too

I moved from Maine in Dec 2013. Moved to Florida. When La Page was running I wrote to him, told him my plans and told him he should eliminate Maine income tax.

I chuckled when I received your reply. We retired to Mesa, AZ from Michigan about five years ago. We were surprised at how much nicer the roads are here in Arizona. I guess it’s all relative.

NATIONAL ENQUIRER also moved for Florida decades ago because of New York taxes.

You’re right...it is all relative. Washington state has some pretty awful road conditions too. But the big difference is most of us don’t drive 20+ miles an hour over posted speed limits like the drivers in AZ. We are down for spring training and driving between Chandler ... Peroria ... Scottsdale ... and Surprise. All I can say is holy Hannah ... speed limits, turn signals and stop lights must be an optional requirement. And nothing like going 80 mph on bad roads!

The NH drift has been caused more from VT seepage than anything from MA. The dope smokers are crossing over the river and NH has more immigrants per capita than any other state.

With no income tax, no sales tax and essentially no pay for legislators it may be a long while. The parasite class is going to have a tough time establishing itself.

*Seepage* came from north of Boston, just over the state line to Manchester, Hookset, Hampton....generally SE New Hampshire....Mass. people moved to NH, and could still commute/work in Boston/greater Boston....this happened over 30 years ago.

I suspect that you are not aware of how high property taxes are in NH

You sound familiar with the subject so I won’t steer you to the UNH study regarding this topic; the problem is from elsewhere. As regards property taxes, it depends where you live.
