Ammo ban? NRA warns it's more than bullets ('You're left holding your gun making pew-pew...)

The federal bureaucracy, in the form of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, recently announced a ban on ammunition used in AR-15 rifles, which are among the most common firearms in America, but then suddenly backed off.

So breathe a sigh of relief and move on?

Not if you like the Second Amendment, according to a National Rifle Association commentator.

Colion Noir, a practicing attorney who graduated from the University of Houston, has been described by the Los Angeles Times as someone who doesn’t fit the stereotype of NRA members: “Old, fat, white guys.”

“At 29, he’s not old. Nor is he fat – he’s slender and stylishly dressed with sneakers made by Prada. He’s also not white.”

And he’s not shy about the Second Amendment, posting a recent NRA commentary on the ATF plan to banish bullets for the AR-15 and then pull back.

“Make no mistake, that so-called ammo ban, proposed by the ATF that they’re now shelving is nothing more than a gun ban by another name. It’s semantic drug smuggling, if you ask me. Take a kilo of gun ban, wrap it in officer safety Saran wrap and smuggle it in the rental car of common-sense gun legislation — and bingo, you have backdoor gun control.”

And he warned the ammo-ban proposal will return.

“If you’re still floating on the whole Obama-doesn’t-want-to-ban-guns cloud of naivety, think about it like this. When you get locked out of your house, what’s the first thing you think to do – try the back door.

“It takes nothing more than a two-second Google search to hear quotes of President Obama wanting to ban all AR-15s. And because his administration couldn’t get that ban through the front door

Oh come on! Did you really think that after Fast and Furious, the massive militarization of all the local & federal law enforcement agencies and the buy up of large quantities of non-target practice ammo by the government that the recent attempted 5.56/.223 ammo ban was just a bureaucratic snafu and everything is all hunky dory?

It’s getting really old to have fight the same fight year after year with this POS POTUS in office.

The scary part is I don’t get the feeling those who voted for him see just how bad he really is. It’s the worst case of head in the sand with blinders on that I’ve ever seen.

Maybe we are just destined to have another civil war. Maybe it’s now almost necessary to rid the country of those who are ok with us losing freedoms and hate this country anyway.

I am not fat, I cop to the other two and I am a proud member of the NRA.

They support demonRATS from time to time and that upsets me, but if the congress critter has a long history of supporting gun rights, the NRA sticks with them.

On balance, the NRA is the best, most influential lobby for guns owners, in the USA.

There are other, far more right gun groups, but they are small and don't carry the same clout {money and numbers rule}.

I know, the NRA supported dirty harry and that drove FReepers nutz, including me, but until there is a better option, I'm sticking with them.

Five minutes of chatting with any hard-core gun grabber will show you that they are impervious to reason, so I highly doubt they’ll ever give up. What needs to happen is all eighty million gun owners need to stand up and say “Either come and get them yourself or shut up!”

These people, by and laarge, don't have blinders. They are working in concert with Obama and his ilk toward the destruction of the United States and the Capitalist system. Their goal is the enslavement of all people world wide.

All guns and ammo will be banned before the rebellion begins. I expect that attempt to be made BEFORE odumbo’s stint as POTUS ends. He ABSOLUTELY MUST ban all means of weaponry before the resistance begins. He may be in for a huge surprise.

Then you need to bend their ear about the way they dole out their money.

I haven't been a member since 2011 when I asked the guy calling to "remind" me to re-up, "Can you guarantee me that none of my money will go to a Democrat politician?".

Answer: he could not.

Using heir silly grading system, if a Dem rates "B" on their 2A reliability scale and the opposing Republican rates "C" (however it is they determine that) they will send donation money to help elect the Dem.

Trouble is, that Dem is not going to actually stand up to his party when it comes to nut crunching time. The "B" rated Dem is going to stab the NRA in the back and support his Dear Leader.

When the NRA puts another filter on their spending money that says, "Democrat - Forget it"... I'll consider rejoining.

Reid has an (B) rating. The NRA ignored all of his behind the scene gun grabbing
attempts while he was the Senate Majority leader. Reid supported Gun control.

Reid should have an (F) rating along with 99% of the other Dems.

I think it would be a dandy idea if the NRA stop sending endless solicitations for all kinds of poppy cock that has nothing to do with fighting for our gun rights.

These mailings the NRA sends out are not a cheap ol postcard, they are very graphically detailed fliers and various pieces. This has to cost millions of dollars. Perhaps they calculate for a million they'll receive two...I dunno but seems excessive to me.

Use that money to defend our gun rights.

5 or 6 years ago, I would have labeled this conversation as crazy talk. Now, I totally agree. I am not sure it is rebellion, though. It will be just a financial collapse, then chaos.

If you only re-up, the money goes to service your membership. Money given to NRA-ILA is the problem. That said, I bailed when they ENDORSED Reid.
