‘Like an idiot I believed that’: Judge blasts DOJ over immigration claims, threatens sanctions

A federal judge sharply scolded a Justice Department attorney at a hearing on President Obama's immigration executive actions, suggesting that the administration misled him on a key part of the program -- and that he fell for it, "like an idiot."

The testy court hearing was held Thursday in Texas by U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen. The judge suggested he could order sanctions against the administration if he finds they indeed misrepresented the facts.

Can't wait to hear the sanctions - hope he requires recinding every application granted and documentary proof each one has been recinded.

At this moment, his life and personal situation is being given a forensic rectal exam as well as his loved ones being rounded up for ‘questioning.’

“Like an idiot” is the epitome of understatement.

Oh yeah! I’ll bet those Sanctions have them scared to death. Quaking in their booties even.

Boehner and McConnell have probably said the same thing.

Gotta give the Dems and Team Obama credit — they are still running rings around the Republicans. Pelosi and Reid are manipulating things even during their minority status. Obama lost both chambers and is still getting what he wants — legal or not. But no one seems to be able to stop him, so — why not?

Dems know how to play politics. The Pubbies seem to only know how to play Tiddly-Winks.

He could cause them to refile their entire case and issue an updated judgment based on accurate information.

The Obama Administration was screaming about ‘time’. This sanction would definitely slow the process down.

The main sanction is that he no longer believes these attorneys. hehe. I’ve seen this happen to a party in a courtroom. Usually involves the judge doing a slow take and his/her expression changing as the realization hits that the party is lying. I’ve had a client be hit with this once or twice but usually its been the other side. Drama drama

DOJ admitted the sanctions would be payed for by the taxpayers.

At least the judge is starting to wake up about these people.

I know it’s hard to get one’s head around it here in the ‘Land of the Free’ but the best guide to learn how the American left acts is to study the Bolsheviks’ rise to power in Russia. Or Robespierre.

Don’t ever expect honesty or civility and you won’t be surprised or disappointed.

Actually, the most effective would be to ask for the names and addresses. Then instruction that those people should be deported immediately. Send the names and addresses to local law enforcement for follow up. That would discourage further "applicants" to Hussein Obama's voter fraud scheme.

Regrettably, you do have a point. But if this judge grants discovery to Texas, this could unlock a lot of dirty linen at DHS. Unless the shredders start going into overtime there.

I respect this judge, because he admits that he was initially taken in by administration lies. He gets a lot of credit for that.

We need 50 million more people who can have enough self-respect to realize that they have been taken in by Obama.

I had my eyes opened after the Tiananmen Square incident. Not because of the massacre, but because of how many people in the U.S. were surprised by the Chinese oppression.

The Left’s lack of civility and honesty ultimately leads to savage brutality whenever they have power. In spite of countless examples throughout history, for some reason many people still don’t see it coming.

An effective sanction would be to have the attorneys for the government disbarred. That would have an effect on the next set of them that is sent to argue the DHS case. Lather. rinse. repeat.
