Just read more about Hindu practices. Their calendar is Lunisolar. Thought I might see some connection there regarding a solar eclipse and Zoroastrian beliefs too. Though Zoroastrian calendar is purely Solar. Apparently, their beliefs & practices are quite different.
However, astrologically, especially in ancient times, an eclipse (lunar or solar) usually meant or indicated a time of upheaval, major change or trouble (globally and/or individually).
By the way, Spring Equinox happened half hour ago, in the Northern Hemisphere.
Good, staring at an eclipse can permanently damage your pupils!
Most welders use a #9 or #10 filter, For solar viewing #14 is needed. Very, very dark.
I know this because I ordered some at work and the purchasing agent ask what the hell they were for!
I guess the guys I deal with do arc welding so #13 or #14 is common. You can't just get goggles with that because arc welding requires full face protection from the UV.
What we need to ban is headmasters and principals.
In fact, ALL public school administrators should be put on an island with hundred of cases of sharpened pencils and white wine.
I’d give it a week at the outside before the island would be desolate. The only thing left would be bones, broken pencils, shattered wine bottles and overstuffed seagulls.
Yes, it most definitely is. As an amateur astronomer I’m serious ‘’nick’’, don’t ever do it. There are ways to safely observe the sun. You can go to any astronomy web-site to find out how.
I’ve used a welding glass many times. It’s the simplest way really. But again, be careful. I usually have on a pair of sunglasses along with the welders glass.
Needless to say, the local Hindus are bemused and annoyed at yet again a white middle class liberal person deciding for them.
