Boehner plans to sideline House conservatives in budget battle

Speaker John Boehner has made plans to bypass House conservatives and ram through two items opposed by the right. He will try and pass a budget deal, using a parliamentary manuever to speed passage. He is also planning a vote on the so-called Medicare "doc fix" he negotiated with Nancy Pelosi last week.

Politico:

If they’re able to clear the two measures, a battered leadership will go into the Easter recess with some pep in its step, as it tries to extend highway funding, begin work on annual appropriations bills and raise the debt ceiling. Not to mention, passing a budget will give Congress the ability to start a budget negotiation process with the Senate.

Whipsawed over the past several years by its rank-and-file, especially the most hard-core conservatives, GOP leaders appear determined to take charge. Boehner and McCarthy have divvied up responsibility for the two major pieces of legislation. Boehner is working to ensure passage of the so-called “doc-fix” package, while McCarthy is overseeing work on the budget resolution, said GOP leadership aides. The leadership even was prepared to take control of the budget, if new Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.) resisted changes to defense spending.

Of course, this can all blow up in Boehner’s face, as carefully laid plans frequently have before. Outside conservative groups including Heritage Action are already agitating against the Medicare reimbursement deal, claiming it will increase the deficit by $400 billion over the next two decades, far more than Boehner is asserting.

For the Republic to survive, the GOP must die.

More proof (as if any were needed)

EXEMPT Boehner and EXEMPT Pelosi made money
of ObamaCARE. .... and kept themselves, and Samoa, exempt.

That is racketeering. But the EXEMPT are above
all Law, and need not even keep records.
Heck, they LIE to Judges and nothing happens.

I don’t even consider myself a Republican anymore. I won’t give the RNC a dime.

The House conservatives can sit there and take this, or they can move to oust Boner as Speaker.

The argument that the RATS will come to Boner’s defense is specious. It they see an opportunity to re-elevate Pelosi, they will seize it.

In fact, the conservatives voting with the RATS to ensure the election of Pelosi would be the ultimate repudiation of Boner.

And for those of you about to flame me, tell what the difference between Boner and Pelosi is before you fire.

Destruction begins “within!” Even within the Lord’s Church (Acts 20:28-30).

Yes, Boehner has become the Speaker for the uniparty, and that is being charitable. He is really the Speaker for the Rats. Conservatives need to find a way to remove Boehner or end the charade, even extreme measures such as bringing down the majority by leaving the party. I wish they would bring back dueling on the House floor, but I guess that isn’t going to happen.

The return on corporate lobbyist money spent in DC is for every dollar they spend in lobbying our congress criminals they get a $760 return on their investment. The US has the best criminal enterprise in DC money can buy and all at the expense of the working tax payers. Ironic how we the people are forced to pay these DC criminals (income taxes) and if we don’t pay, we are charged with a crime. That really sucks for us!

Kabuki theater performed by experts. Boehner will take the heat for passing this because he knows the liberal media will support him for it, and it will be used to further alienate the Base from the public, after all the term govern is code for spend like a liberal. All of the “conservatives” will talk tough, and bluster about how angry they are at Boehner, but they are actually pleased he is taking the heat and providing positive liberal press. In secret they are all patting him on the back and heaping praise for how clever he is. Of course with all the Democrats voting for the spending increase, the Republicans are free to vote against it to prove they are conservative. Now can we just start the chorus about how we need to fight Obama, and not fight within the party, and we need to pick battles we can win and...

Boehner has formed a new party, using about 75 Republicans and the Democrats to get liberal legislation through. He may be Speaker of the House, but he is not leader of the Republicans. Republicans need to get rid of him, but all but a handful are too afraid of losing their committee seats and office space.

How about we no longer support tax cuts for big business and country club establishment elites. They sell out they shell out. Since that is the only place they are conservative that is where they need us.

The House conservatives ought to call for vacating the Speakers chair and force Boner to secure help from the real speaker Pelosi to retain his position. The GOPE is playing hardball with the conservatives of their party yet plays footsie with their good friends across the aisle. Its time to stop making nice with the GOPE and make their lives miserable and show the world for the duplicitous traitors they are to the country.

Is it correct that the ONLY thing that will satisfy House Conservatives would be to “shut down the government” until 2017?

No? Until when? Until Obama is “shamed” into resigning?

No? Until when? What result do YOU expect?

Please remember that “talking tough while hoping for a miracle” is usually a LOSING strategy.

But if you have a realistic strategy for reining in “The One”, I’d like to hear it.

I am not sitting in Washington getting extremely wealthy selling out the country. It is not my responsibility to come up with a strategy for the Republicans; I do my part, I donate, make phone calls, vote, etc. No one begged these guys to go to Washington, they spent a lot of money, many times destroying potentially better people in the process.

And as long as we are talking strategy, I am willing to bet most Freepers could do better than what he have sitting in Washington. First off, I wouldn’t start every policy debate by telling Obama where the line is I won’t cross. I also wouldn’t spend time criticizing the party base, ridiculing them for expecting results, or at least a believeable effort. Talking tough with no plan, strategy, or intent to win, ultimately surrendering is also a losing strategy. Look at the state of the party right now.

You guys have been making excuses for over four years. Are you telling me in that time the Republicans couldn’t find a single issue to beat Obama? Obama and the Democrats are beating the Republicans on issues the public does not favor. I think the Republicans would be overwhelmed with the level of support they would get if they actually tried to lead for a change.

The Republicans have done such a terrible job, it is embarrassing to hear them try to talk tough, like recently when the warned Obama against unilaterally raising taxes, which he will do, and the Republicans will do nothing.

If we can’t win is the only defense you have, why do we need elected Republicans?

Talking tough and doing nothing appears to be the only strategy the GOPE has at this point. I don’t see any strategy except surrender on: abortion, raising taxes, rule of law, raisning the debt ceiling again, letting the ATF set new gun laws and regs., EPA regs, DOJ running wild, heck they are even willing to consider funding obamacare if SCOTUS rules against it.

Really a losing strategy as apposed to what the GOPE is doing now? Talking tough and then doing nothing and still losing...

Well, my strategy — weak as it may seem — is to:

(1) supply money and encouragement for battles that Conservatives can win
(2) discourage battles that Conservatives must lose and
(3) build up resources for the next election so we can elect more Conservatives. When Conservatives are back in the majority, we can put this country back on track! While the goose-stepping Democrats vote as a “bloc”, our options are limited.

Until then, as Dirty Harry said, “You got to know your limitations!”

Our biggest limitation, IMHO, is the Democrats WANT a government shut-down which they and the news-clowns can blame on Republicans. Therefore, WE really cannot threaten a government “shut-down”.

So — if the Treasury says we need to increase the debt ceiling or shut-down the government, then we NEED to increase the debt ceiling.

But I think we could attach some small conditions to that debt increase bill. For example, a condition that would prevent “our” Justice Department from prosecuting employers who hire Americans in preference to illegal aliens would appeal to most Americans.

How would “The One” twist that condition into an attack Conservatives? We’ll see...
