One reason the Constitution is crumbling before our eyes is the notion that the President is, in some sense, a representative - one who instead of representing a district or a state, represents the nation.
The system designed by the Founders cannot survive this transformation.
The idea that a man with Dr. Carson's background - that any service chief at any US teaching hospital - could ascend to the Presidency in a single step is ABSURD.
The only people who believe THAT believe that having good values and giving a good speech, plus making us feel good, are the qualifications for the office.

Dr. Carson is a wonderful man. He isn’t presidential material which is probably to his credit. He failed utterly the 2nd amendment test.

I think he meant that Hewitt would favor Jeb because he’s the amnesty candidate. Hewitt has been on board The Cheap Labor Express since before he became obsessed with electing Mitt Romney President.
I’ll probably write him in for the primary and the general. I don’t know when VA votes next time around but the last two times, it was already decided before we got a chance to vote.
I like him but he is not qualified for president in any way.
He needs to serve in an elective office that will give him some seasoning. He needs to be exposed to classified intel for a little while. He needs to travel a bit.
It would be the same if we were talking about Phil Robertson, who I admire. If he was running for senate, great. I’m in. President, not a chance.

If you do a search of Rand Paul here on FR, you should get several articles about him. That way, you might be able to get more information.
He was never my candidate, but I was still shocked to see some of those lists. I’ll see if I can find them. Maybe they should be posted a few more times so people can see how goofy he thinks.
I think Dr Carson would be fine as president. Far better than what we currently have. And I bet he know how many states are in the union.
