Congress’s two top tax chairmen warned President Obama on Wednesday not to claim unilateral executive powers to raise taxes on his own, saying it violates the Constitution and ruins chances for a lasting deal.
Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said they were troubled by White House’s announcement earlier this month that Mr. Obama is “very interested” in exploring what options he has to raise taxes without going through Congress.
“This would be a mistake, both constitutionally and politically,” the two lawmakers said, adding that if the president pressed ahead, it would make it much tougher for him to reach a deal with Congress on simplifying the tax code and permanently eliminating tax breaks.

The Republicans will do nothing. Obama should just start issuing any and all EO for anything he wants to do as well as blanket amnesty for all illegals.... Nothibg will happen to him. The privilaged few will lose their favor with the king.
Of course not. It’s like telling a career criminal that no matter what he does, he won’t be arrested and charged with a crime. What’s he going to do? Commit lots of crimes, that’s what.
Obama knows there are no consequences to what he does, so he’s going to do what he wants.
I keep thinking that, if it wasn’t for the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, state lawmakers would have elected enough conservatives to the federal Senate by now to remove Obama from office if the House impeached him.
THey might even send it courier or certified to be sure he got it.
I figure Obama will start his full court press to destroy the USA in his final 6 months, as no matter what he does, the Republicans will do nothing.

The Republicans are despicable, contemptuous creatures not fit to run a brothel. Obama can declare himself emperor and void the 2016 elections and the Republicans would do NOTHING. At this point I ashamed to have ever called myself one.
By 2016 the Republican candidate might-—might win the presidency with the right candidate but this Republican congress is so narcissistic, concerned only about themselves and cowardly I suspect they will be voted out of office. As much as I hate Democrats the Republican Congress reaches the same level of contempt for they have power and yet would rather win just one more election and retain their personal power than do what is right for the country.
