Postal worker fired for throwing away GOP campaign flyers
The American Mirror ^ | 3/17/15 | Olaf Ekberg

Posted on 03/17/2015 7:15:14 PM PDT by Kyle Olson

A U.S. postal employee thought it would be easier to throw away mail that included Republican Party campaign flyers to soothe his sore shoulder than to actually deliver them.

Rickey Krueger, a mail carrier for the Neenah, Wisconsin post office, was convicted last week in U.S. District Court of “mishandling the mail.”

I doubt that politics had much to do with this

1) He only tossed Republican mailers
2) This is WI; heard about Act 10, Recalls, solidarity singers, Senators running to IL, and the ORIGINAL occupation?

I sure hope this disgusting individual who thought it was his right to try to throw an election loses his pension; he should be behind bars!

Oh, in WI you get jail time if you post nice things on the local paper’s web site about your boss if he’s a Republican official.

“Taxpayer subsidized junk mail, the USPS primary function”

There is no taxpayer subsidy on anything other than franked mail. Postage on campaign mailers is fully paid for by each campaign.

Screw that, junk mail is artificially cheap...and who pays the workers to deliver it?

I want a first class stamp on every piece.

You’re reading your own interests into this incident. All we know is that the mail carrier got caught ditching some GOP campaign mailers. We don’t know a thing about his personal politics or even if he has any. Having some knowledge of posties my bet is that beer is his personal political preference, and is likely the root of him not performing his job.

FR is full of political junkies. Not everyone is motivated by politics or even pays the slightest attention to them. Mail carriers are deluged with mailers at election time and end up hating them all, not just the Democrat or Republican ones. Their customers end up hating mailers by the time the election rolls around. I know I get sick of them.

“Screw that, junk mail is artificially cheap...and who pays the workers to deliver it?”

The mailers are paying for it to get delivered. That’s pretty much the theory behind charging them postage.

If you want to drop off tens of thousands of letters presorted in route order to your local delivery substation you, too, can get that artificially cheap postage rate.

Of course it’s not really artificial, each class of mail is designed to pay for itself, although bulk business mail aka junk mail usually ends up subsidizing the first class volume. Two junk mailers alone pay the USPS over a billion dollars per year in postage.

The real cost of junkmail would be determined by sending it Fedex.

Defund the USPS.

Again, the only threw out the Republican mailers, not the Dim’s stuff. He’s a union member, and this is WI and was just after Act 10.

“He’s a union member, and this is WI and was just after Act 10.”

You are more than a bit confused and guessing about facts not in evidence. Postal employees are not required to join one of the postal unions and the article doesn’t say whether he did. Act 10 is a Wisconsin state law. Postal workers are US government employees and Act 10 didn’t affect them.

Well, they’ll defund themselves. First they’ll stop Saturday deliveries...then they’ll get rid of blue mailboxes, then they’ll have the carriers ride bicycles instead of Postal Vehicles, then three days a week, then two, then none.

But they’ll never fire any of the employees. That would be anti-union....er, I mean anti-American.

They’ll just stand around in the back room sorting and resorting the mail, playing cards and taking turns annoying the public at the only open customer-service window.

Dude, I’m confused?????? Guessing? I lived through Act 10, you got what, a story every week or so? You don’t know how nuts these people were and are. The FACT that he only tossed out the Republican literature and delivered the Dim lit is all I need to know about his motivations.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Oh, a postal worker would never have political motivations to not deliver political mail for one party. Nope, just could not happen. Have you even seen any of the stories from WI in the 2010 - 2011 time frame? Any? How about the recently released info that the Gov and his family received about 3000 death threats in that time frame?

You sir are living in a fantasy world. Ever met a liberal, I mean one of the true nuts?

Actually it just means that one of us has real world experience with investigations of this sort in the postal service and knows the difference between facts not in dispute and facts not in evidence. And knows better than to extrapolate beyond what the evidence presents. My guess is that you have never been beyond the lobby of a post office and the numbers 3849 and 3971 aren’t burned in your memory.
