Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock is resigning his seat in Congress.

The 33-year-old Republican has been dogged by questions about his spending of taxpayer and campaign dollars. On Monday afternoon, POLITICO posed a lengthy set of questions about charging the government and his campaign tens of thousands of dollars in questionable mileage reimbursements.

Yeah I saw Brady's brother expressed interest right after he himself passed. I don't see him as having a great chance.

State Rep. Dan Brady (no relation to Bill and Ed but a cousin or something of PAT Brady) has also been mentioned as considering it. He's a combiner, yes? It's hard to see him running against LaThug. Too many Bradys and Ryans in this state.

Politics1.com lists State Rep. Tom Demmer as a potential candidate but I don't know if he's actually expressed interest.

Bill Brady, Bobby Schilling, and Jil Tracy are the "big 3" choices.

Yeah, Dan Brady is a cousin of Pat Brady and a rival of Bill Brady. Bill Brady & Ed Brady are not related to Dan Brady & Pat Brady, but they hail from the same region of the state, so it confuses people. And none of them are related to Jim & Sarah Brady -- the husband & wife team who went from Reagan administration to gun control advocates. To make matters more confusing, Jim & Sarah Brady are from downstate Illinois as well.

There are also numerous pols named "Ryan" and "Murphy" in this state who are not related to each other. For example, there's a Matt Murphy in southwest Cook Co. who is the brother of Worth Twp. GOP committeeman Shaun Murphy. He ran as a Ron Paul delegate. He is not related to the Matt Murphy in northwest Cook Co. who currently serves as a State Senator and was elected as a non-combiner, anti-RINO candidate, but quickly sucked to the Republican establishment and became Andy McKenna's running mate.

When Patrick Hughes ran against Kirk for the US Senate, apparently it confused numerous people because there's some big liberal Democrat donor in this state also named Patrick Hughes. The two are not related.

Wish we could find an anti-combiner, anti-GOP establishment candidate named Kay LaHood or something, and slate her against the politician's son. That would be fun.

Also, to his credit, I didn't trust Rep. Dan Brady one bit when he was listed as "likely no" on gay marriage, since his cousin was pimping gay marriage like crazy at the time. But he remained a steadfast "no" when the bill came to the floor and they were twisting arms to get it pasted. I'm guessing he figured it would be political suicide in his conservative district if he voted for it.

His decent voting record aside (LaThug Jr. has a "decent" voting as well), both LaThug Jr. and Pat Brady's cousin are hardcore combiners, and neither deserves conservatives support in a contested primary.

The most amusing thing is LaThug Jr. ran as a Gingrich delegate while his daddy was pimping 0bama's reelection. So LaThug Jr. wanted daddy to lose his cushy job, or there had been a backroom deal for LaThug Sr. to stay on in a Gingrich administration? These combiners literally have their hands in everyone's pocket.

Cover? After all, there was little danger of there being a Gingrich administration.

Good point. He probably ran as a “Republican” delegate for a candidate that had virtually no chance of winning so he could use his token “Republican delegate” slot to boost his GOP creed with gullible conservative groups. Sadly it worked well for them.

Well, Tracy is out and we’re up Shite’s creek. Looks like this will be a coronation, not an election.

In other IL Congressional News, Rat State Senator Mike Noland and 2014 failed rat Comptroller nominee Raja Krishnamoorthi (copy/paste? you becha) are running for Suckworth’s 8th district seat.

2014 GOP nominee Larry Kaifesh gave a pompous answer when asked if he’d consider running again.

And rat Brad Schneider is rematching Bob Dold in the 10th. He faces primary opposition however from Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering, who may a bigger threat to Dold.

Sen. LaHood won’t have a coronation. A conservative, Ron Wallace, will run, and I’ll be one of his campaign employees. Ron says that Congress should eliminate spending that isn’t authorized by the Constitution, including Departments of Education and HHS. He’s strongly pro-life, and he says that our government should deport a lot more illegal aliens.

Good luck. I live in reality, some random guy has no chance.

From his twitter, he’s a Cruz birther, gross. I can’t endorse that.

https://twitter.com/vote4wallace

“Rubio, Jindal & Cruz all fail the “natural born” requirement. Rand Paul is OK.”

FAIL. Probably a Paultard, wants to clear the field for him. Rand Paul was born on Mars so he’s not “natural born”. ;p

I thought Cheyenne was the destination of the next century ... but maybe becoming an Indianapolitan is a better option.

Having any of u Illini considered moving east to that fine metropolis?

I will die a failure if I stay in this Yankee cesspool, where churchmen openly boast of not going to the polls.

I forgot he went to work for Napoleon Bloomberg. Had he won the IN Governorship in 1996, he likely would’ve been a potential Presidential candidate. Funny thing is, had Dan Quayle not taken Pres. Nixon’s advice of moving to Arizona, either he or his wife could’ve won the Governorship that year over O’Bannon. He’d have been able to demonstrate his skills in an executive capacity and also been able to legitimately mount a Presidential run on that basis (rather than that sad, abortive run he made later).

>>>I forgot he went to work for Napoleon Bloomberg>>>>

I’m not sure I ever knew that. I’d love to see a successful urban conservative in the White House, like GOldsmith or Bret S. Such a shame. Well, Walker was Mil. County Exec.

Nixon told Quayle to move to AZ? Why?

I remember there were a lot of ads for that ‘96 IN Governor’s race here. “He (O’Bannon) is no Evan Bayh” was in the GOP ad. Evan Bayh was no Evan Bayh either.

Nixon gave advice to Quayle that might’ve made sense to Nixon, but really wasn’t applicable to Quayle. After Nixon “lost” the 1960 race, he immediately jumped into running for California Governor in 1962 (which was a way to keep himself prominent and viable for a future run for President, if not in 1964, 1968), which was ill-advised. Nixon had never been in CA state politics (only federal), and the GOP lost all those offices in 1958 when Sen. Bill Knowland, the GOP Senate leader, decided to strongly coerce Gov. Goodwin Knight to switch jobs with him (as Knowland thought the CA Governorship would also be the easier path to the White House). Nixon pursued that folly (but had to get past a bitter primary with the GOP Assembly Leader Joe Shell, who was a strong Conservative and better versed on how to take on and take out Gov. Pat Brown).

Nixon and Quayle obviously discussed the latter running for Governor of Indiana in 1996 (again, to demonstrate his ability and viability for the Presidency). Nixon urged him NOT to run for Governor and to build another base of support in the southwest (AZ). But Quayle was popular in Indiana and he could’ve had the Governorship had he decided on it (unless Mayor Goldsmith decided to run a strong primary challenge, and he likely would not have wanted to serve as second banana to Quayle given his office — he had already done so in 1988 running on a losing ticket to Bayh/O’Bannon). By not getting bogged down in parochial state politics and staying focused on the Presidency was Nixon’s advice (as Nixon probably would have chosen, in hindsight, NOT to have run for CA Governor in 1962, as it only left him embittered. That was when he expected it was his swan song, when he barked at the media, “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore !”

Quayle could’ve at least halted 8 more years of Dem control of their Governorship and perhaps stopped Evan Bayh going to the Senate (running his wife would’ve been a stroke of genius). If you’ll recall, the media hated Marilyn Quayle because she was a Conservative (far less media hatred for liberal Barbara Bush, although liberal Nancy Reagan was skewered).

It looks like the Combine is backing state Senator Darren LaHood and trying to clear the field for him. Bummer. I guess that Aaron Schock had some more financial skeletons in his closet.
