Cut it. 2 years and never looked back. Wouldn't subscribe to the evil-cable trash if it were free.

The older shows are out there. Not bad, you just have to have the adapter or a TV configured for it.

I think a lot more people have evolved out of mindless entertainment ... the Dick Van Dyke, I Love Lucy, Alf etc ... type of programming (analyze THAT word!) and has become more cerebral

We like the NCIS type of show because most have a plot that oftimes can't be determined right away (we like the mental gymnastics of trying to figure it out), and action crap (most have no story but a lot of fighting, crashing, blowing up .. etc.)

My wife is a FR widow and, in spite of themselves ... my talk and language has a lot of my more dense acquaintances starting to say ... hmmmmm

You got me beat. I quit watching around 1977 or 1978. I don’t own a TV. I watch the occasional movie on the computer and am considering subscribing to some form of streaming service so I can watch classic films.

I watch a lot of Netflix. TV rarely.

Only "TV" I watch is via a USB tuner connected to my notebook and an outdoor (old VHF-UHF) antenna. Lots of local broadcast stations for free, and the tuner includes DVR software, all in HD if broadcast that way.

Recorded content can be played back on your TV thru ROKU or other appliance with free PLEX software, easy to set up.

Stopped all TV in Aug, 2008. Don’t feel I’ve missed anything.

Yep, me too!

I am going to get HBO, though, as Apple just announced an exclusive deal with HBO on Apple TV ... :-) ...

CBS is leading the way to the future model of paid subscribership. Right now you can go subscribe to CBS and get their current shows and a huge portion of their past shows.

Their was shows are dated ... I mean who wants to watch Battlestar Galactica from the 70’s?

It’s only a matter of time before they figure out they have to produce quality material to sustain their future business model.

Broadcast, to a large extent is going to die, but the broadcasters are not. Cable and online streaming will just become more competitive.

I haven’t had cable for a decade and the only reason I had it then was fox news. But when fox news became commie light that was the end of that.

For me, it depends on what you mean by "TV."

I think there are tons of worthwhile entertainment available on video, but nearly none on cable TV. It's like comparing news content on internet vs. NY Slimes.

Many or most classic or older films have a level of sanity one can't find in many of the new movies or television shows. I tire of the modern "sophistication" which is nothing more than insanity masquerading as enlightenment.

Cut cable in 2001, TV sits unused 2 yr+, modest collection of DVD’s also sits as they can be found online free. With the proper software, commercials are a thing of the past, and any episodic shows are available for free viewing as well. Sure beats the hell out of what video was available on the internet back in 1995!
