The Audacity of Hill ... Mark Steyn
Steyn Online ^ | 10 Marv2015 | Mark Steyn

...

I'll be talking about today's Hillary Clinton press conference later tonight with Sean Hannity on Fox News, but it was an amazing performance. Amazingly wooden and unconvincing, of course, but in a sense that was part of its brazenness. Its sheer implausibility underlined her central message: Yeah, and what are you gonna do about it?

Most political figures would be terrified at having to advance this thin a defense in public:

Oh, well. I didn't have a government email address because I didn't want to be forced to carry "two devices". Who'd she get that one from? Bill? "Aw, honey, you know I couldn't possibly be arkansashorndog@yahoo.com, and distinguishingcharacteristics@gmail.com, and cigaraficionado@aol.com, and hotmale@hotmail.com, and youmightwanttoputsomeiceonthat@clintonmentoring.com, and all the rest, because I'd have to have 12 different devices. And, if I had 12 different desktops on the desk, there'd be no room for the intern, would there?"

That's why all this stuff is coming out now. If Hillary can get away with something so obviously and uniquely and intentionally wrong, and that compromises national security to boot, and for which she offers nothing but the most laughable explanations, then she will have set the rules for the next 18 months. If she can make the court eunuchs of the media and the Democrats' own base complicit in this absurd and unconvincing lie, they're hardly in a position to complain about all the others in the months ahead.

Turning over the 50,000 emails in paper form isn't just about making them slower to read.

It was about creating an "air gap" between investigators and those emails' metadata, signs of viruses, evidence of foreign intrusion, etc.

If she can make the court eunuchs of the media

That seems a foregone conclusion...

By co-mingling public and private emails, she has given up any right to privacy.

Wonder what those Anonymous kids think of her?

Someone writing at Legal Insurrection notes that Hillary claims she doesn't have to provide the server because it contains private emails, and she also claims she's deleted her private emails. So the contradiction hangs out there for anyone to see, yet the pro-Liberal media will no doubt claim now that she's done all she can do to put this present Clinton scandal to bed.

James Rogen, (sic), from Fox News reported that Dept of State IT insiders told him that Hillary kept pressing them to approve an Iphone for her use instead of the BlackBerry that is Govt issue.

Why?

Because Apple’s encryption is unbreakable and they will not give out their encryption key to the Feds.

If she had the Iphone to use for official business there would be no way for the Dept of State to look into the phone and find out what she had sent to folks without a .Gov account. Thus, no reason to keep the private server.

Since the IT folks refused, at least twice, to let her use the Iphone she had to keep the private server up so that what she did on the internet, and who she emailed, could not be seen by the “peasants”, (us).

That air gap also makes it possible to edit the content of
the e-mails before printing with no means of detecting it.

Unless of course the other party's copy of it turns up.

Perhaps the $6 billion that has been declared missing and unaccounted for from the State Department expenditures is what she is attempting to hide?

Among other things.....

Her remarks were pure Hillary, snide, condescending and total spin. Hillary and Bill are cut from the same cloth in terms of lacking integrity and lying whenever they get caught. However Hillary is not Bill who could lie convincingly and turn on the old Clinton charm to gain sympathy even when faced with his tawdry sexual affairs and impeachment for perjury. Hillary is lacking in any charm and despite her best efforts to lie still comes across with condescension. Her response that it was her server and she was going to keep it under her control no matter what is typical of her “how dare you question me” attitude. Her campaign has not yet crashed and burned, but there is sure a lot of smoke.

What everyone is missing is that Bill has always been the student, with Hill the teacher.

Mark makes the same mistake just about every other commentator I've seen on this has done regarding the 55,000 "pages" of emails. Unless each individual email is only one page, this represents a hell of a lot less email than it sounds like. I'd be surprised it it represents more than 10k email, and it's probably a lot less than that. Hell, just one email forwarded with a pdf attachment of some document could easily be hundreds of "pages" long.

Everyone is being banboozled by this fake number. I'm surprised Mark is falling prey to it.
