At a hearing this morning on Capitol Hill, Democratic senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey blasted the Obama administration talking points on Iran:
"I have to be honest with you, the more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran," Menendez. "And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization when they are the ones with original sin--an illicit nuclear weapons program, going back over the course of 20 years, that they are unwilling to come clean on."
Menendez is the highest Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

WASHINGTON — --The Justice Department is expected to bring criminal charges against Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., involving his relationship with wealthy donor Salomon Melgen and accusations that the senator improperly advocated for the business interests of the Florida eye doctor in return for gifts, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The charges are expected within the next few weeks, said the person who is not authorized to comment publicly. Menendez has previously denied wrongdoing.
Asked Friday whether he authorized corruption charges against the New Jersey senator, Attorney General Eric Holder said: "I can't comment on that."
What is notable here is that the assault on Menendez comes from allegedly raising money and taking gifts in a scurrilous way - a mainstay of democrat fundraising.
Bob knew he was about to be indicted, so he lashed out.
I don’t want to hear this stuff any more. I want to know what these DC pols are going to do domestically to stop and reverse the invasion of the US and internationally to disintegrate ISIS. That’s it....FOCUS
It is the Night of the Long Knives in Democrat Party.
The indictment was directly related to his criticism of Obama.
Harry Reid is 100 times the crook that Menendez is alleged to be, but since Harry is 100% on board with Obama’s agenda, Reid will get a pass.
So what’s the full story behind this? Did Bob step out of the reservation first or did Holder go after him first?
The best answer for that would be to remove Obama, but Obama's stalwart defenders, Boehner and McConnell won't let that happen.
Because on the Iran issue and the Palestinian issue AIPAC and J-Street are opposing each other. Democrat Menendez gets his money from an AIPAC lobby group but Democrat Diane Feinstein gets her money from J Street(as does Sen Corker).
Menendez has been one of the Senate’s most vocal opponents (of either party) of Iran. I believe he’s been targeted since he succeeded John Kerry as head of the Senate Foreign Relation Committee. He’s no dirtier than most other East Coast Democrats.
Yup, sounds like he was talking privately against the dear leader first and then with the homeland security program that if you see something you say something he got in trouble because the terrorism he saw was coming straight from the dear leader. Saying something got him in trouble, just as it would in Russia, China, or North Korea.

Hillary getting fully exposed for the self server emails ...
I’m telling, there is no coincidences with this BHO gang. WTH is up? There is another shoe to drop on something that ties all this together.
Stop and reverse? More like cheerlead and enable.
no doubt they can indict Hillary for the same thing. maybe this prosecution is a hint to her?
Because if they do, the grand plan is to force-feed us either Jeb or hillary, knowing full well the voters don't want them.
What has Reid done to tick off BHO? If anything he has been the most loyal.

But the Republican Realists led by Bob Corker and the Democrat Realists led by Feinstein were opposed. The isolationist republicans(Rand Paul and Mike Lee) also opposed and the antiwar dems also opposed.
AIPAC supported the legislation but J Street was opposed.
Menendez as majority chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee brought the legislation(Kirk-Menendez) out of his committee. But, Harry Reid(a Realist) refused to allow the legislation onto the floor of the senate for a vote, so it died in early 2014.
Then in Nov 2014, the GOP won the senate, and McConnell(NeoCon) said he would allow Kirk-Menendez onto the floor of the senate when he took over in 2015. Except, now Corker is the majority chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and won't let Kirk-Menendez out of his committee and Corker writes different legislation which he brings out of his committee which competes with Kirk-Menendez. So Kirk has to bring Kirk-Menendez out of the banking committee.
This put McConnell in a tight spot on how he would proceed with these two bills.
Then it got more complicated. A small group of senators traveled to Israel and met with Mossad, who dis-agreed with Netanyahoo. So two of those senators, McCain and Graham switched their support from Kirk-Menendez to Corker.
Then it got more complicated. Obama convinced Menendez to back off on his bill until the negotiations were over(a few weeks).
It is likely that either/or Kirk-Menendez and Corkers bill will pass the senate, but the issue is which of the two bills would most likely get the 67 votes needed to override Obama's veto.
