The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) proposed last week to prohibit gun companies from manufacturing and selling 5.56mm projectiles for M855 cartridges that provide ammunition for AR-15 rifles.

The Protecting Second Amendment Rights Act, introduced Friday by Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.), would roll back the ATF’s power to regulate ammunition.

“The Obama administration’s proposal would unilaterally strip law-abiding hunters and sportsmen of their Second Amendment rights,” Rooney said in a statement. “Congress has made its intentions clear that this ammunition is for sporting purposes and should not be restricted. We cannot and we will not stand by while the Obama administration tramples on the Constitution, the rule of law, and the Second Amendment rights of hunters.”

The Protecting Second Amendment Rights Act would "would prohibit the ATF or any other federal agency from issuing or enforcing any new restriction or prohibition on the manufacture, importation or sale of ammunition in the United States."he Protecting Second Amendment Rights Act would "would prohibit the ATF or any other federal agency from issuing or enforcing any new restriction or prohibition on the manufacture, importation or sale of ammunition in the United States."

Yep. These cowards will not work on the real problem.

They would rather cower in the corner and talk about BS that is systemic and not the root cause. Obama is the cause. Remove the POS from our House and fix the REAL problem.

He is destroying our Country and begging us to start a Civil War. Congress needs to do their job or they will find themselves on the pointy end of the pitch fork

Why they even insulting us with the idea of passing a law, John just surrendered on the only leverage they will have this year. as he already surrendered everything else.

Thanks to our backstabbing house republican leadership(john). THERE CAN BE NO CONGRESSIONAL ACTS PASSED OVER OBAMA’S Veto, and there is zero leverage to get Obama to sign anything, so why even bother proposing it?

WHO Cares what some idiot congressperson proposes now? The only ground we have left this year to advance the cause of liberty in our state Legislators. At least some of whom have been demonstrating some remarkable spine.

After the surrender today, I do not expect this Congress to do anything to protect any part of the Constitution

Neither do I.

For all intents and purposes, our Republic is dead. The only question remaining is which group of parasites will finally finish it off?

The next several years are going to be really ugly - and deadly for those who love freedom and liberty.

After today, we can probably identify 75 “republicans” who will oppose this bill.

I hate to rain on your parade, but from I have seen of Congress, by the time this is voted on it will OUTLAW FIREARMS in the US Completely.

Then I guess I will be a criminal.

I can see the day when confiscations are probable. Along with a lot of government tyrants disappearing.

Didn’t Nixon create the EPA? The executive branch is supposedly separate from the legislative branch.

Congress created it and Nixon signed it into law.
