Retired Israeli veterans warn against speech [Netanyahu Congressional Speech]

“When the Israeli prime minister argues that his speech will stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, he is not only misleading Israel, he is strengthening Iran,” Amnon Reshef, former head of the army’s armored corps, said at a news conference Sunday.

-- -- --

TEL AVIV — Hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set off Sunday for Washington, a group of 180 retired Israeli generals and former top security officials warned that his upcoming address to a joint meeting of Congress on Iran’s nuclear program will cause more harm than good.

It will not only damage Israel’s special relationship with the United States but also undermine military and intelligence ties, they said.

Rather than slowing down Iran’s nuclear project, the former security officials said, Netanyahu’s speech Tuesday will bring the Islamic republic closer to developing a nuclear bomb.

Y’all in Israel don’t have enough Jews there to be able to afford dividing yourselves.

Still can’t say “liberal”, can you?

Your focus on “Jews” is way too heavy.

Well then you can have it.

For my part when it comes to trusting an enemy islamist like soetoro or trusting in Bibi, my loyalty goes to the one I believe is closer to God’s intent.

Plus, I suspect strongly that Boehner never would have issued such an invitation without that “still small voice” which compelled him to do so.

I will hear the speech of the leader our friend and ally, Israel, regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

I choose to listen.

These are NOT Arab sympathizers by any stretch. There are many battle-hardened IDF veterans (including distinguished career officers) who are very liberal and even socialist, and many who are just tired of war. Israelis have been fighting their entire lives, and their desperate thirst for peace clouds the judgment of many with false hope and misplaced trust. They genuinely believe that they are always one concession away from swaying world opinion, and remain consciously ignorant of the Satanic hatred that seeks their destruction. It is sad to see once-proud warriors lick the shoes of American presidents, but that is what we have conditioned them to do for the past three decades. They think it works.

Meh. Three Jews, four opinions.

If this is the best dissenting voice to be found, it’s practically unanimous.

As a former resident of Gush Katif, I have issues with BiBi, but I like the man. (My vote will be Jewish Home, for example).

You could easily find opinikns such as mine that it is time to destroy Irans oil infrastructure and nuke the nuke facilities.

As an American and having seen some changes behind the political scenes over many years, I wonder how those retired officers and their defense contractor management friends treat their former enlisted men in employment and neighborhood issues (social pathologies in employment, private property rights, neighborhood politics, regulations, “eyesores,” “property values”).

If they’re liberal and socialist, how can they not sympathize with Islamic socialists?

There are mentions in the Prophets of a worldwide situation like that described in my last comment.

Remember obama and his backers are sending million and millions of dollars - plus agents - into Israel to try to rig the election. To install a Quisling government in Jerusalem to sell out the country. Why? Because they can’t defeat Israel any other way, at least not without risking hundreds of millions of casualties, quite possibly their own included. But if the enemy can get its agents in charge of Washington DC then they figure, possibly correctly, why not Jerusalem? Please be very cautious about all the anti- Israel and yes anti-Bibi and anti-”nationalist” stories now. Very concerted effort to destabilize and set the stage in Jerusalem for a grand “sell out” of Israel “in the name of world peace” of course. But it will require a “cooperative” or suicudal government be installed in Jerusalem. From what we can read, that’s possibly the likes of Herzog or Livni, or ? I wouldn’t give Israel ten years if that happens. But her downfall will be because “she dared great risks for peace”. If Israel wants that on her tombstone, she will get it. Best,

The really annoying thing about the Obama administration is the seemingly pathological need to bypass negotiation with their own side. There have been secret trade negotiations which have been going on for years, but despite the fact that so large an issue is in all of our interest to keep on top of, we aren’t allowed, AND they keep trying to push through legislation to make the process even LESS transparent! Remember healthcare reform and the way we were all shut out there?

No, Bibi’s speech is of interest simply because we are being (as usual) kept in the dark and fed sh**.

Socialists generally have an internationalist bent and believe in no national borders. Not to mention that socialists of all stripes work together, whether atheistic, “humanist” or Islamic.

I would say that there is a dichotomy between fighting for the integrity of Israel’s borders and fighting to break them down. Which do the socialist veterans believe in? and did they do the defense of borders thing merely on orders, in order to avoid any kind of dishonorable discharge and thus availing of care from the state? (Rotten question to ask, I know, but one never knows another’s heart.)

Bill Clinton’s political operatives helped end Bibi’s first run as PM back in the 1990s, and Obama is trying to do it again. They might succeed, and put Israel in even greater peril than she faces now. My confidence in America’s loyalty to Israel is waning, but God’s loyalty will not wane.

Its only a speech. It is Obama who is creating the embarrassment. Obama is embarrassing himself and anyone who cares what he thinks.

All he had to do was do nothing. Say nothing. Graciously accept the invitation to hear the address, maybe extend an invitation to dinner at the White House, or not. It is Obama’s tantrum, truly weird tantrum, that has created a problem where there isn’t one.

Bibi’s speech isn’t going to help Iran get the bomb, unless you’re implying that Obama will help them get it out of spite. Except I believe he is already helping them get it out of spite.

Israelis are nationalists, believing that Israel is the last and ultimate refuge for Jews - and they have and will fight to defend it. Israel is undeniably also a welfare state, and therefore socialist.

What I have read says that the more Obama & his regime attack Netanyahu, the more popular Bibi becomes in Israel.

Obama is widely perceived in Israel as an enemy.

I am confident Bibi will be reelected. Peddling the notion that tomorrow’s speech will make-or-break him is leftist propaganda.
